Since it has been four months already since I purchased my beautiful Yves Rocher mascara, it was time to toss it out as it started causing me irritation in my eyes. This time, I decided to go back to basics and pick affordable ones as it pains a lot when I have to toss out expensive mascaras. Today’s review is all about the new #LOTD mascara from Essence. My Experience with Essence Lashes of the Day Super Volume Mascara:
The mascara comes in a pink, girly package. The packaging is eye catching like claimed and it stands out. The darker pink screw cap houses the wand and on the cap, I love the #LOTD which makes it something unique and makes you pick this one. The cap closes tight and there are no chances of leakage or the product drying out. This makes the product a perfect travel companion. The product doesn’t come sealed and there is some information on the back of the bottle regarding the product and for everything else, you need to look up on the website.
The product is a volume mascara. I have sparse eyelashes and I usually pick volume mascaras to add the oomph for my eyes as I go without an eyeliner every day. The wand is thick and has a lot of bristles on them that are tightly packaged to give the effect but it is pretty basic. The wand picks up the product well and eases the application but, it picks up more product than needed and a sweep on the mouth is necessary to have less product on the wand. The product is jet black and has a typical mascara kind of smell.
The application of the product is pretty easy, with one swipe you get some volume instantaneously and when you apply 2-3 coats, you can clearly see the difference. The product lengthens the lashes and also adds immense volume. The product dries pretty fast, so you need to make sure you apply the coat before it dries or else it can make the lashes look clumpy. The wand also lightly curls the lashes and if you have a good curler, you can achieve dramatic results. The mascara also separates the hair strands very well and coats each one with the product for a voluminous look. However, when you apply more than three coats, it kind of looks bulky on the lashes. The product holds the results for around six hours which is pretty decent. The product doesn’t cause any irritation and is suitable for sensitive eyes or if you are wearing lens.
The product is not waterproof. Even though it doesn’t run when it rains. If you are in rain for longer, there are high chances that you end up with panda eyes. Another thing I hate about the product is that it flakes off. But it doesn’t go all over your face. It concentrates on the eye area and when I see my face in the evening, it feels like I have dark circles with all the smudging from the mascara. The product is easy to remove and since it is not waterproof, a mild cleanser will do the justice. But you need to make sure you remove thoroughly and if not, when you wake up there is black smudge around the eyes. I use an earbud to remove the product from beneath my eyes. The product is a good for creating volume but do not expect anything apart from it. So, summing up:
