Hope you are doing great. Essence is a drugstore brand which is famous for its mascaras. They offer different varieties of mascaras and the quality is great too. Recently, they launched a new mascara line called ‘Volume Stylist’, which comprises of two variants: Curl and Hold and Lash Extension. Today, I am going to review their Volume Stylist 18H Curl and Hold Mascara. Read on to know how it fared.

My Experience with Essence Volume Stylist 18H Curl and Hold Mascara:
The mascara comes housed in a sturdy light pink tube and the cap has a braided pattern over it. The tube has all the product related details. The mascara applicator itself is a fully loaded paddle brush. It is quiet huge and has a slight curve. The bristles go from small to large on each side.
The wand is perfect for the upper lash line, but I feel the big brush is a bit difficult to use on the lower lash line as it may spread the product on the skin. I feel the tube becomes quiet messy with the product; it may be because of the huge wand or the small opening.
The formula of the mascara is nice and creamy. It is perfect and it isn’t too wet or dry. The pigment is dark black and it dries quickly on the lashes. This mascara has a creamy black texture with microstyling waxes. This mascara promises to provide the lashes with long-lasting volume and incredible curl that lasts up to 18 hours.
Once I apply this product to my lashes, I can see an immediate difference. It adds length and volume to my lashes and does give a beautiful, dramatic false lash effect. Now coming to the curling claim, this mascara did curl my lashes a bit, but I couldn’t see any dramatic curling effect on the lashes.
The mascara is pretty good but it doesn’t give you a separated lash effect; it gives a kind of clamped up lashes, which doesn’t bother me as I quiet like that style. The mascara doesn’t flake or give me dried, crispy lashes, which some mascaras tend to do. I like the formula of this product as it is quite gentle on the eyes. There is no irritation either. The mascara is fine. It’s lengthening and makes your lashes look voluminous, curly and feathery.
On the other hand, I don’t like the brush that much for my lower lashes. I think it’s messy and confusing at times. The mascara lasts the whole day, but I am not really sure about the 18-hour claim. Overall, I like this product. It is a decent product which makes my lashes look dramatic and beautiful.

No, but I will try the other variant from this range. This one is a decent, affordable option and you can give it a try.
