Finally, my packet arrived from US and I got some new products to try on and also, a big dent in my pocket. One of the things I got was Estee lauder Double Wear Stay in Place eye pencil in the shade “Onyx”. I have been using eye pencils from drugstore brands mostly so, I wanted to try one from high end as well. Lately, I have been drawn to Estee Lauder a lot. So, I picked up this one from their collection.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil Onyx:
The pencil comes in a cardboard box of a very average quality. Inside is a too sided pencil with black tip on one side and smudger on the other. The pencil is guarded with a golden cap which is tight, but not tight enough to travel with. It just closes firmly but not with a click, which gives us an assurance of a lock. The smudger side is is covered with even more fragile, transparent cap which does close with a click. I wonder why they did not put the same lock mechanism on both sides.
Anyways moving on, this pencil is not a twister, but a wooden pencil. It needs to be sharpened and this needs a sharpener, which is not complementary with this as it is with some other brands like Bobbi Brown Art Stick for example. And, going for a small sharpener of same brand is not at all a cheap deal! The golden cap does make the product look luxurious.
Coming to the actual product, the pencil is an inbetween of creamy and hard. It isn’t too creamy that it breaks or melts into the skin like Maybeline drama eye pencils, nor it is too hard that it hurts. The problem with creamy pencils is that they finish up very fast. Well, this one doesn’t. The texture is smooth and one stroke gives a quite decent color. However, this isn’t the blackest of blacks. These days, where market is selling the blackest of eye liners, I do not think this product will hold any place.
When applied it stays for 3-4 hours maximum and then, goes faint. On the water line, it is even less. The smudger is of almost no value here, since the product is not too dark by itself. So, I personally don’t want to smudge it at all. The effect given by the pencil is so moderate and nothing too stark! So, I will not smudge it anyways, moreover the pencil sets very fast. So, smudger has no action left to do.
Pros of Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil Onyx:
- High end feel to the pencil.
- Sets quickly.
- Smooth texture.
- Not very hard nor too creamy, a perfect consistency.
Cons of Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil Onyx:
- Not long-lasting.
- Expensive.
- Not the blackest.
- Nothing great about it.

Do I Recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil Onyx?
I will not buy this again because I have better options in affordable price or may be in same price as well. If you are looking for deep black please skip this.
