L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow in Eternal Black Review

I had been wanting to try one of these eyeshadows, at least considering its my job to review new products 😛 Finally, I got it from Pune.  In fact, I got two of them and will be reviweing the other one soon. I swatched and tried out all the 10 or more shades and what I found very catchy is the packaging.  I like how the base has a peek at the color. The lid is nice and then there is a protecting cap inside or whatever you call it with a handle.  You open it and you get pure deep eyeshadow color inside.

I like how many shades they have. I found that they have a couple of matte, a few shimmer and glitter ones and some pure metallic ones, but they have very few for casual wear I think.  I loved a few others at the counter, in silver, a khaki and a grey matte and one more in copper.  I think many more have been reviewed on IMBB already in a gorgeous khaki and brown I believe.  Do check them out.

The black is named “Eternal Black” and it is a pure black with tons of shimmer and glitter in it.  I can literally call it silver glitter because it is very shiny and when you apply the shadow, the concentration of the shadow is diffused on the lid. So, what you get is a pretty silver glitter particles here and there.

The shadow comes out sheer on the lid than in the pot. The shadow needs a base I feel because it has a lot of shimmer and if you don’t want it all over the place, then better to stick it on to a base. Try not to blend it and rather use it in a patting motion. The shadow looks great all over lid instead of in the crease obviously. So, what I do is put it on the lid and then blend a grey or a silver in the crease to soften it and also use some black on the lower lash line and done!

This is a great party wear, clubbing smokey black with almost a galaxy full of silver glitter to it. Hence, it is strictly party or evening wear.  Some things I did not like about it are the way it gets sheer on the lid than in the pot. Another thing is that it does not set like a few other L’Oreal shadows I have which set mildly. Then, the glitter can get all over the place when you remove it.  The wear is also lesser than promised. On me, it stays crease-free for a minimum of 4 to 5 hours.  I wore it at 4:30 and came back at 8 pm and it did not crease at all, but wasn’t looking tidy either.  So, this needs to be packed on a base and not blended.

Another thing that bothered me when I bought it was the entire content of the pack inside came off when I tuned the pot. The texture of the shadow is like the SA said, but somehow, I did not find it sturdy to play around with. I also found it difficult to pack on the brush, don’t know why.

Last Word:

This is no doubt a very pigmented, soft, and almost mushy kind of a shadow and the silver in it looks glam.  The wear could have been longer and at the price of Rs. 450, I think it is fine at the moment, in case they don’t intend to hike it up. Chances are I won’t buy it again because you can see how sheer it comes on my lid, even though I packed a lot of color and did not blend it.

  1. I have three colors in this range and they stay on my lids for a long time. i guess all.colors have different texture and staying power. and try to use your fingers to apply it rather than the brush, it comes out better.
anyways, i love the color and your EOTD is gorgeous as usual Neha 🙂

  2. it reminds me chanel illusion d’ombre. that creases on me badly. but i love shimmery black shadows. I love the little twinkle they add when applied on a regular black eyeliner 🙂
