L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic Pen – Silver Mania Review

Hi everybody,

Off late, I have kinda-sorta been obsessed with eye pencils/pens. Just yesterday, I read the review of L’Oreal Paris Gelmatic Pen in Brown on IMBB and was pretty impressed by it. On Googling it, I found that L’Oreal Paris has launched the L’or Lumiere collection keeping in mind the upcoming Cannes Festival. All the more reason why I couldn’t resist buying it! The shade I bought in the L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic is “Silver Mania.” Read on to find out more about it.  Shades available in L’Oreal super liner gel matic – Ultra Black, Deep Brown, Silver Mania, Glamor Gold, Turbo Turquoise and Blue Force.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic Pen – Silver Mania:

I am not someone who likes very bold eye makeup, I like to keep it minimal, but a girl needs to have some sparkle every now and then *wink*. I picked up the shade “Silver Mania” since I already own close dupes of the other shades that the L’oreal Super Liner gelmatic pen comes in. Silver mania is, as the name suggests, a true shimmery-silver shade with a metallic touch to it which looks absolutely glamorous.

Packaging:  The packaging is your run of the mill, black plastic body, nothing too impressive about it. Though I feel the Kajal Magique from L’Oreal has a way better look. The bottom of the pen indicates the color. The cap of the pen closes tightly and securely; thereby making it travel friendly.

Application:  I am really impressed by its formula. It’s smooth in texture but not buttery. It glides onto eyes very smoothly without any grittiness.  On the lower waterline, one swipe is also fine to give a nice and subtle silver shade. Below the waterline and on the eyelids, 2-3 swipes are required to get that beautiful silver color.

Payoff and Pigmentation:  Now about the pigmentation, when I first swatched brown and golden shades of this eye pen at the store, I wasn’t much impressed by the color payoff and pigmentation. Those shades would easily require 4-5 swipes to get close to the actual color. But when I swatched the silver shade, I instantly figured that this one has a much better pigmentation in comparison to the other shades, maybe because it’s such a bright and sparkly shade and 1-2 swipes are more than enough of this one.

Staying Power:  I wore this eye pen for about 5-6 hours and when I came back home in the evening, the silver color was still noticeably visible under the lower waterline. However, I think it disappeared from the waterline after 2-3 hours itself, leaving shimmer particles behind. Also, in this weather in Delhi when wet tissues are my only knight in shining armor, I figured that not only is this eye pencil smudge proof, it is also waterproof (or wet-tissue proof, yayyy!).

Pros of L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic Pen – Silver Mania:

  • Nicely pigmented (this particular shade).
  • Sturdy packaging.
  • Gives the look of a gel eyeliner.
  • Reasonably priced.
  • Nice variety of shades available.
  • Despite the shimmery texture, it doesn’t cause any irritation.
  • Waterproof.
  • Smudgeproof.
  • Smooth application.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic Pen – Silver Mania:

  • Though the packaging is sturdy, it looks rather boring.
  • Some colors in this gel matic range of pencils aren’t very nicely pigmented.
  • Not very long lasting on waterline.
  • Some people may not like the shimmer/sparkle in it.
  • Considering its sparkly nature, it sure isn’t one of those “daily-wear” eye pencils.
  • Eye pencil might break if not handled with extra care (I literally saw two broken testers at the store I bought it at).

Final Verdict:

Looking for a nice party-wear eye pencil to make a bold statement? Go, pick this up!!!
