Lush Enchanted Eye Cream Review
Many people recommend using an under eye cream apart from the daily moisturizer. Now, here’s a question – is there any need for a separate eye cream? The answer is “yes.” It is because the skin around our eyes is a little different from the rest of our face. First of all, this skin is comparatively thinner and shows signs of ageing more quickly than other areas of the face do. Secondly, the skin around the eyes is more delicate, vulnerable and prone to allergic reactions than the rest of the facial skin. Specially formulated eye creams are said to have more emollients, which cause the skin to swell enough to lessen the appearance of wrinkles and dark circles. They also hydrate the skin around the eyes and makes it smoother. Hence, I do agree that we need a good under eye cream for pampering our delicate under eye area.
I have been suffering from deep dark circles since my teenage. I don’t know the actual reason – whether its heredity, lack of sleep, too much sun exposure, stress or something else? I have tried almost each and every under eye cream available in the market for my stubborn under eye circles. During my last visit to the Lush store at the Palladium Mall, I saw Lush Enchanted Eye Cream and decided to give this beauty a shot. Let’s see how it fared on me.
Product Description:
The skin under your eyes is extremely delicate. Forget about pal-KT peptides or Q10 complexes; only the gentlest natural ingredients should be used to keep the skin firm and supple. Enchanted Eye Cream is a gentle, soothing blend to minimize fine lines. We mix calming lavender, honey, water to reduce swelling with cold pressed almond and jojoba oils to moisturize and honey for that “just awoke from a full night beauty sleep” look.
Claims:
Perfect for night and day. Only the finest, gentlest stuff should be used on the body’s finest skin. Put this delicate potion of organic oils, lavender and soothing honey around your eyes and you will only do them good. Pure, simple, refreshing, moisturizing, minimizes fine lines.
Ingredients:
Lavender Honey Water, Stearic Acid, Organic Cold Pressed Almond Oil, Glycerine, Organic Jojoba Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, and Propylparaben.
Lavender honey water, almond oil and jojoba oil are made into our lightest loosest emulsion, to give a very refreshing cream that sinks in easily without overloading the skin.
How To Use:
After cleansing and toning your face, dab on your fingertip and pat gently onto clean, slightly damp skin. Gently dab on with your little finger, following the line of your cheek bone up towards your brow bone. A little bit goes a long way. Re-apply as often as needed.
Price:
Rs 1,310/ (ouch!)
Packaging:
The eye cream comes in their classic black packaging, sturdy spritzer bottle with the signature Lush label. As with all Lush products the packaging is black with white writing. The pump of the bottle is secured with transparent plastic cap.
This eye cream is white in color and is quite runny. It is like a lightweight lotion rather than a cream. It is not odorless, it smells something like bitter almonds, difficult to explain, to simply put it – smells weird.
My Experience with Lush Enchanted Eye Cream:
Good points first. I am using it religiously since the last 4 months and I think it’s the right time to review it. As part of the daily skin care regime and after CTM in the night, I use less than half a pump of this cream and dab it all around my eyes with my ring finger in light motions. Since it is in liquid form, it is very easy to work with, just sinks in the skin almost immediately. My under eye area never appears greasy/oily or like coated with some stuff (as with certain other eye creams). The best thing about this cream is its texture – its light, creamy, non-sticky, and absorbs quickly into the skin.
Lush says that as the skin around the eyes is thin and delicate, it needs a light moisturizer to keep the skin moisturized without irritating it. Accordingly, they have formulated Enchanted Eye Cream to be a super gentle one, its so gentle that it has done absolutely nothing for me! I think, for dark circles of mine, some heavy duty eye cream is needed and this Lush cream is way too gentle to deliver the desired results.
Although, there are no claims from Lush regarding its effects on under eye circles, yet we expect a little from under eye creams to work on that aspect too. Even after applying it daily (I am never so consistent with any product), I didn’t notice any visible results, be it brightening of under eye area or lesser fine lines or say even 1% reduction in my dark circles after using this eye cream. So, if you have non-problematic skin and you are just looking for a gentle eye cream for pampering your under eye area, this might be good for you, but if you are like me who has very dark circles and puffy under eye area, this one will surely disappoint you.
Pros of Lush Enchanted Eye Cream:
- Very lightweight, soothing, and gentle cream for the delicate under eye area.
- Easy to use, absorbs quickly.
- Non-greasy.
- Lot of product (45 gm).
- Travel-friendly packaging.
- Lush is against animal testing.
Cons of Lush Enchanted Eye Cream:
- Not an effective eye cream.
- Does not help with puffiness, dark circles or fine lines in the slightest.
- Smells weird.
- The cost!
- No noticeable results vis-à-vis claims made.
IMBB Rating:
1/5 (deducting 4 marks for non-effectiveness, 1 mark only for all the pros combined, but that any cheaper cream can also deliver. Lush are you listening? We have high expectations from you).
