Skin tone: Medium to dusky
Makeup Geek has recently launched their liquid lipsticks named “Plush Matte Liquid Lipsticks”. I picked 4 shades from the range and today, I am reviewing the one called ‘Plain Jane’. Let’s get started.
Price: $12 for 0.06 oz
A cross between a cream and mousse, this unique formula sits on top of the lips for a soft, “plush” feel. A wide variety of colors crafted in a soft matte finish, you’re sure to find a highly pigmented shade you love!
Plain Jane is a medium pinky brick with a matte finish.

My Experience with Makeup Geek Plush Lip Matte Liquid Lipstick Plain Jane:
Packaging and Quantity: This lipstick comes packaged in a pretty plastic tube with a metallic gunmetal cap with the logo of Makeup Geek embossed on the top. There is also an outer cardboard box, which has the color combination of metallic gunmetal and the actual shade of the lipstick. The shade name is present at the bottom of the box and the ingredient list is also printed on the outer box. This product has a flat doe-foot applicator which is efficient for lining and filling the lips properly. The packaging is quite small; it is the smallest looking liquid lipstick I own. Having said that, let’s discuss the quantity of this product. This product contains 0.06oz of product for $12. Now, if we compare this with similar products in the market, we come to know that this quantity is so small, for example, Kat Von De Everlasting liquid lipstick contains 0.22oz product for $20. So, we actually get the 1/3rd amount of product of an actual liquid lipstick which is relatively less. Overall, the packaging is pretty and of good quality, but the product itself is not a value for money based on the quantity provided.
Shades: There are 20 shades in this range and most of the colors are unique. I really love the shade variation as it is quite different. ‘Plain Jane’ is a brick pinky red or terracotta with an orange undertone. This is a beautiful shade that will work for all the complexions.
Formula: I think this range has an amazing formula. Makeup Geek describes it as a cross between cream and mousse consistency. I’d say that it is a pretty good description. The texture is more like thick whipped mousse and is similar to the texture of my favorite formulas like ‘Tarte Creamy Matte Lip Paints‘ and ‘TBS Matte Liquid Lip’. These give a semi-matte finish. You’ll need to touch up after meals as it does come off. These are not your typical matte liquid lipsticks, which is a plus as it is more comfortable to wear.
It is extremely pigmented and doesn’t cling to dry patches and fine lines. It is not drying but proper exfoliation is a must before using these lipsticks. This shade is not streaky and glides on smoothly. This formula is not smudge proof or transfer proof.
Staying Power: These have a decent staying power, it stays put for a good 5 to 6 hours and then fades a bit, but we can easily reapply them. As I told before, these do transfer a bit while eating or drinking, but nothing major. This lippie doesn’t dry down the lips but mostly at the end of the day, it does feel a tad bit drying on the lips, but nothing uncomfortable.
I think these are great lipsticks except for the quantity. I hope Makeup Geek does something about this soon and it can become one of the most economical and comfortable formulas in the market.
