Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub

Hi All, today I will be reviewing the Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub. I have combination skin on my face and as a result, my nose tends to get oily most of the times. Though I do not have too many blackheads, a couple of them do popup on the sides. There is very fine teeny weeny hair on my nose too :(, but thank God, I haven’t faced the problem of whiteheads ever. Well, so I wanted a good scrub designed to eliminate blackheads and keep my nose soft and smooth. On the recommendation of a friend, I purchased the Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub.

What the Product Claims To Do?

– Helps remove blackheads: enriched with round micro-beads the formula gently exfoliates skin and helps to unlock pores by removing trapped oil and dead cells that may form blackheads.
– Helps prevent blackheads: with a known blackhead fighting ingredient it helps to cleanse the pores deep down and prevent new blackheads form forming.

Aqua, cetyl alchohol, polyethylene, polysorbate 60, salicylic acid, jojoba esters, potassium cetyl phosphate, agar, xanthan gum, bht, titanium dioxide, mica, ppg 15 stearyl ether and a few others.

150 ml for £3.89.

My Experience with Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub:

The packaging looked good when I picked up the product, but after using it, I find that the flip top stand-up lid is not a good idea as the lid tends to get messy. So, even though it is supposed to be a stand-up tube, I keep it flat on the shelf. The scrub has a whitish creamy texture with very tiny orange-coloured beads. The beads are not very coarse though. The scrub itself is a bit too creamy and washing the scrub off takes more time than with other scrubs. The tube says that you can massage it all over the face avoiding the eye area; however, I use it only on my nose. I had used this for weeks regularly, but did not find any marked improvement. Yes, it does feel clean and smooth after using, but the claims of preventing blackheads did not work for me. Well, I used it 2-3 times a week and not daily though.

Now, I use it only as a nose scrub prior to using a pore strip. This seems to be a better way to use it (for me that is). The shelf life is a year, so hopefully I should be able to use it in the next few months 🙂

Pros and Cons of Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub

– Dermatologically tested.
– A 150 ml tube goes a long way as only a little amount is needed for each use.
– I hate the smell (smells like a shaving cream).
– Difficult to wash off (I prefer scrubs that can be washed off in a jiffy).

Rating and Verdict: 3/5.

Will I Repurchase????
I don’t think I will repurchase this. It did not work well for me. I think I would use a normal face scrub on the nose prior to using a pore strip.

  1. Doesn’t sound very great..even I got another of Neutrogena Face mask for black head removal…..though I don’t have blackheads but loads of white heads!! 😐 …that also didn’t do much for me apart from giving a clean fresh feeling…

    Good review Dee!! 🙂

    1. i was curious about this one and was wondering once I am done with the TBS blackheads wash, whether i should pick up this. Now clearly i wont so thanks for the review.

hey Kimi – glad to hear you have whiteheads (kidddddddddddding)..what do you do for them? u know the parlour lady said to kind of pinch my nose in such a way that the pores get squeezed. you kind of pull back on the skin and then squeeze it back together and believe me the white heads just poured out..terrible sight but relief all the same ..doing this everyday now and applying the blackheads scrub once every 2 days..

      1. he he..I usually take steam for 5 minutes on my face every 15-20 days and then just squeeze the white heads out!! 😛

the problem with whiteheads is that it is very difficult to clearly see them!! :(( So I never know when I am all clear of them… 😛

        1. i like the blackheads wash. i have not done a review though (not very confident of doing a good job of it) but I could tell you its worth it. infact i dont mind sending it to you (free ofcourse) since I think my bigger problem is my white heads..let me know your address (through Rati).

I will follow Kimi’s advice and do the steam thing. hope that helps. sorry about ‘the glad to hear you have it’ statement.. :((

Kimi – mera bahut obviously diktha hai..dam irritating..i hate it , hate it..

          1. Thanks Aruna, for the offer to send it to me..
But I am based in UK – I will try to get one when I go shopping next time
I guess it should be easily available here

btw – I never ever get my blackheads removed in the parlour..
it pains sooooooo much…had got it done once (that too because the parlour lady kept pestering me…saying it will be all gone and the pain is manageable) the pain was too much for me though and my eyes started watering ..

            1. oh exactly..thats the worst part of a facial..maybe the steaming thing might be a good solution for you too..but TBS is worth a shot..let me know if you ever buy it and how it worked out for you..

            1. no dimpi 🙁 it dosent..whiteheads kuch alag hi problem hai..i hunted for a product that would take care of whiteheads but no such luck. gotta stick with home remedies

  2. Thanx for the review Dee!
After trying Neutrogena oil-free moisture and a sunblock….i was planning on trying more of their stuff, coz these two suited me. But now i won’t try this. :thanks:
