Orange Face and Hair Packs: Do It Yourself

Orange Face and Hair Packs: Do It Yourself

Hello Everyone!!!

Orange is very good for toning and restoring collagen in the skin!  Everyone should opt for using seasonal fruits in their skin care routine, rather than putting fruits on the skin straight from the cold-storage!

Moisturizing Orange Face Pack:

Orange+Face+and+Hair+Packs+Do+It+Yourself

The stuff you will need are:

    • An orange.
    • Any carrier oil like sweet almond, olive, grapeseed, etc.

  • A juice maker or if you are desperate like me you can use your hand.

Procedure:

Step 1:

Take a clean bowl.

Step 2:

Take about five to six segments of the orange flesh for applying on the whole body.

Step 3:

Add five to six drops of the carrier oil. I have used olive oil here.

Step 4:

Squeeze the segments to take out the orange juice.  Alternatively, you can use a juicer and prevent this mess!:P

Step 5:

Now, dig your hands in this and give yourself a beauty treat.

Apply it on your whole body before going to bath.  This pack is quite runny in texture, so you can even add multani mitti or sandalwood powder to it, but I prefer the raw acidity against my skin.  Use of essential oils in this pack is not advisable as it can react with the acid in the orange.

After using it, my skin feels fresh, toned and slightly moisturized (because of the oil).  Every winter, I make this pack.

Rough Orange Scrub:

Things you will need are:

  • A clean bowl.
  • An orange.
  • Dosa mixture (rice and dal mixture in the ratio 3:1, ground smoothly and fermented overnight).
  • Juicer (optional).

Procedure:

Step 1:

Take the clean bowl.

Step 2:

Take the dosa mixture in the bowl.

Step 3:

Take about three to four segments of the orange.

Step 4:

Squeeze the orange segments to take out the juice.  Alternatively, you can use a juicer.

Step 5:

The final scrub should look somewhat like a runny topping on a cake!

This scrub is pretty rough, so it should not be used on acne, cuts, very dry skin.  After scrubbing with this, the skin should be patted dry and moisturized.

Smooth Orange Scrub:

Stuff you will need are:

  • A clean bowl.
  • Skin of a fresh orange.
  • Multani mitti.
  • Turmeric.
  • Green tea.
  • Grinder.

Procedure:

Step 1:

Put the skin of the orange in the grinder.  The skin should be fresh, it should not be dry.

Step 2:

Add about 1-2 tablespoons of green tea before switching on the grinder.

Step 3:

After grinding, it looks like this!

Step 4:

Take this mixture in a clean bowl.

Step 5:

Add a pinch of turmeric.

Step 6:

Add about a tablespoon of multani mitti.

Step 7:

Mix all the ingredients together, and then the final scrub looks like this. Isn’t the colour pretty?

Rub this onto your skin.  After massaging, let it stand for 5 minutes, then wash off.  This pack can cause a slight tingling sensation on the skin, but its nothing to worry about, and goes away within 10 minutes.  If the stinging sensation bothers you a lot, splash cold water and it would go away faster.

Nourishing Orange Hair Pack:

Things you need are:

  • A clean bowl.
  • An orange.
  • Fenugreek/methi soaked in water overnight.
  • Grinder.

Procedure:

Step 1:

Take the soaked fenugreek and separate it from the water.  The water that is left behind is excellent for reducing cholesterol, arthritis, asthma, improving metabolism and curing menstrual problems.  So,this water should be consumed instead of throwing off.

Step 2:

Put the fenugreek in the grinder and make it as smooth as possible. The ground fenugreek looks like this!

Step 3:

Take the paste in the bowl.

Step 4:

Take 3-4 segments of the orange.

Step 5:

Squeeze the juice out of the orange segments.

Step 6:

Mix the two nicely.

Fenugreek is excellent for curing dandruff and hair fall. I have never had much of a dandruff problem, but this pack has helped a lot with my hair loss issue.  Due to PCOS, I have faced dryness and extreme hair fall over the years, but this pack has come to my rescue many times.  During the summers, I use lemon instead of orange.  The fenugreek is very sticky, so takes a lot of time to get washed off.  The orange helps to wash it off, to some extent.  A good cleansing shampoo should be used, after about 30 minutes.  If you find bits of the fenugreek still remaining in your hair after washing, then comb it with a wet wide-toothed comb.  It is advisable not to use this pack when you are in a hurry, as you will end up having bits of methi in your hair.

hey jomol….the placement of the 2nd last pic is wrong!it should be placed before step 4 in smooth orange scrubber!

  3. i love oranges…
never knew it can b used for hair too..thnx a lot
btw instead of fenugreek seeds i use fenugreek powder in hair pack and before using it, i strain it once , this makes sure no methi seed bits are left in hair. 🙂 🙂

    1. ur welcome geet!!
That’s a nice substitute!!But I like using the fresh seeds!!But yes, using the substitute prevents the methi from sticking to the hair after wash! 🙂
