Boots No7 Moisture Drench Lipstick (No 10,12 and 30) Review

Boots No7 Moisture Drench Lipstick (No 10, 12 and Wild Volume Raspberry Truffle No. 30)

My first review on IMBB!!!

I was not into make up so much. My make up was just an eyeliner and a lip balm, which I can’t live without 😉 but when I came across IMBB, it was like giving me an opportunity to learn and get to know lot many things about make up and the cosmetics, which I had never seen or used hehehe (you may feel maybe I am not part of this world). I never looked at makeup seriously, but then reading articles and reviews on IMBB, has changed my perspective towards makeup and has helped me a lot and I have got better at choosing the right products.

I had been thinking about writing from a long time, but never got the right opportunity and topics until now, thank you Rati. I wish to continue my association with this blog and makeup as long as I can.

So, here goes my review:

I had been to the Mirdiff City Center and was looking for lipsticks. As I have told you earlier, I just use lip balm, so thought to give it a try and I bought three lipsticks from the Boots Pharmacy.

I am always on the lookout for simple and non-fussy makeup that can be applied in a jiffy and does not make me look “over done.” I bought this lipstick in the new “Hydration Complete” (No. 10 and No. 12) Bare and Mocha shades and the wild volume No. 30 Raspberry Truffle shade of the Boots No. 7 range. I was after a lipstick that didn’t have shimmer and was natural looking to even-out the colour of my lips and this stuff is amazing! The pigment is strong and you do not need to apply multiple layers (as I did and I ended up with a whitish line across my lips!), one swipe is enough for giving even colour. The almost matte finish in this shade is gorgeous and doesn’t dry out lips; moisturising formulation keeps your lips smooth and soft.

The colour swatch (as shown in the below picture) looked just perfect and the packaging is stylish and classy. The black matte shiny tube gives it a very sophisticated and posh look (for lack of a better word!). It costed me 60 Dhs and dishing out that amount, I was a bit sceptical for a basic shade of lip colour. I was in a mood to splurge that day! Thankfully, it turned out to be a wise investment.

1.) Bare.

I applied straight onto my lips without any balm or primer. I didn’t use a lip liner as I wanted to see if it stayed or bled. Application with this lipstick is really nice. It is creamy and slightly translucent. I have tried it with just one swipe as well as 2-3 swipes and every time, the shade looks just right for my skin tone (wheatish with yellow tones) and I am sure, it will suit most Indian complexions. It gives you the option to have it slightly lighter for more of a day shade, but you can use it for night too.

2.) Raspberry Truffle.

Don’t quote me, but I really find the moisture drench hydration complete and the Wild volume ones to be more pigmented, softer, creamier and much better shades for me too.

I love this lipstick. It is amazing. It lasts for hours and hours and keeps your lips moist, which is another excellent quality. It is a very nice summery colour and I love the quality of the product. Its colour range is excellent and every shade is suitable for either day or night. I love it so much.

Just a small note about what the product claims:

Pros of Boots No. 7 Moisture Drench Lipstick (No.10, 12 and Wild volume Raspberry truffle No 30):

  • Very smooth application.
  • Not shiny, but does not dry the lips and does not feel flaky (can be used without a lip balm).
  • Suitable for Indian skin tones and complexion.
  • Likely to last long – one swipe is usually enough for a subtle hint of colour; 2-3 swipes gives a deeper shade.
  • Packaging is stylish and classy.

Cons of Boots No. 7 Moisture Drench Lipstick (No.10, 12 and Wild volume Raspberry truffle No 30):

  • Needs touch ups though not too many; however, there have been days when I have managed without a touch up since the colour fades to leave a mild stain on the lips, which isn’t too bad.
  • The price is a bit steep and it is smaller than a normal, full sized tube (3.5 gms).

Final Verdict:

Despite the price, I think it’s a worthy investment and hope the tube is likely to last for quite some time. Both ranges are good, it is just a matter of personal preference.

My Rating: 4/5.
