Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick: Rubis Rouge
Chambor is suddenly in limelight on our blog, thanks to me 😛 and my ardent love for Powder Matte lipsticks. Most of us have tasted its sweetness by purchasing one or more of their shades and of course sinners like me have indulged in more than one. You can read my reviews on other shades from this range, like Coral Reef, Rose Fantasie, Brique Rose, Pink Devil, Rose Fresque and many more. I have another gorgeous shade for you today, Rubis Rouge.
This was again a recommendation for a friend . I don’t often use reds, but they work with me in a phase. If I wear a red, I reach out for that lipstick again and again and I think this is another such lipstick.
I am very happy at spending Rs. 450 to get such a wearable red and hence I am sharing this with you because this red would suit most Indian warm skin tones I believe and the best part is that this orange-red makes my skin glow and really perks up a dull face and a dull day too!
The shade is a pure orange-red which I prefer better than the pink or maroon reds. The reason being that I already love orange-based lipsticks and then when you get a red which is wearable, it’s a class apart. This is pure bright blood red I feel and looks like something else when swiped on twice.
I love everything about “Powder Matte” lipsticks. The simple matte packing, the price (I should have been faster in hoarding them when these were Rs. 400 :P), the quantity which is huge at 4.5 grams considering its so pigmented and will last a long time. Then, the pigmentation and the texture is so thick that one good old swipe does the job, but I like to go with two for this one since the red comes out more orange when I swipe it twice.
The only issue I would like to point out for others is that it can feel like a very heavy lipstick. Two swipes can make you lip-conscious and it can settle too heavily and for too long as well. It can be a little drying to the fact that it settles and lasts for a very long time.
If you are ready to compromise on this front, then I think these lipsticks are the best matte lipsticks around (oh please don’t even think they are anywhere close to the Colorbar lipsticks which stain horribly). These don’t stain at all and are very soft to apply and settle once applied. They are not hard or matte during application.
Last Word:
Gorgeous, orange red, matte with superb pigmentation, long lasting, price is justified as well. If you don’t like lipsticks that settle and feel dry and matte, then this is not for you!

and any random lip balm i can find at bed time 😛
but yes in northern winter it gets dry 😐 and without lipstick lips can look horrible lol 😀

I don’t think there are better lipsticks than Chambor powder lipsticks in the market. I just wish they had a pure red one too. The salesperson told me Chambor does not have lead in it which most lipsticks have, especially the long staying ones.
