Ask IMBB Gang

Mareechika asks:

Hi everyone,

I had been a silent reader of IMBB for long. I was a moisturiser+kajal+lip gloss person till the day I found IMBB.  Thanks to IMBB, I decided to make a start on the makeup front. I am still a novice in makeup, so wanted to seek the help of all you MU enthusiasts.

I m 35 year old and have oily, pimple-prone skin. For winters, I am just using Cetaphil cleanser and Kiehls ultra facial cream, which are working just fine. As as far as makeup is concerned, I use Inglot cream concealer, Inglot AMC cream foundation and inglot pressed powder. I am gonna travel to Mexico (cancun beach) for New Year.  Needed your help to choose right skin care (couldn’t find the right sunscreen till date) and makeup options for beach. Can’t avoid makeup because of my ghastly dark circles. Please help! (sorry for the long question though!)

I cannot suggest you regarding makeup, but You might want to try La roche posay sunscreen. Its extremely effective and safe enough to be used on the most sensitive skin types, a bit expensive though. Try the fluid extreme version (spf 50+) or the one that comes in a spray form.

sunscreen: go for banana boat
waterproof eye pencil(faces),neutral eyes and oxblood lipstick would look great and trendy .

Hi Mareechika,

Thanks for all those encouraging words :)

When you are going to a beach, pick up a good sunscreen that would protect you from tanning and sun burn. Here;s one such sunscreen……http://makeupandbeauty.com/la-roche-posay-anthelios-spf-50-spray-review/

If you are wearing makeup, choose a primer or makeup base so that your makeup stays longer. One option is this http://makeupandbeauty.com/inglot-makeup-base-review-2/.

Choose a powder foundation so that you can touch up in between also…..something like this…..http://makeupandbeauty.com/mac-mineralize-spf-15-foundation-review/

Use bronzers or highlighters which would add a glow when the sun hits your face. Something like these:

I mostly keep it very simple.. infact I rarely wear makeup on beach. Still. Sunccreen – lotus spf 40 (is tinted and gives a bit of a coverage along with sun protection) ,70 or 90 or la roche posey spf 50

pick up a tint – bourjois has a great one. you can use it both on your cheeks and lips and it looks suuuper natural.

waterproof mascara.

for under eyes – mac prolongwear is the only sturdy one for beach i can think of at the moment.

have a great holiday :)
