Mascaras are my favourite. I have a fetish for these and keep buying them often as they have to be stashed after 3 months for hygiene purpose. I recently picked up a mascara from Essence and today’s review is all about Essence Instant Volume Boost Mascara. Read on to know more.

My Experience with Essence Instant Volume Boost Mascara:
The mascara comes in a purple and silver pack. The mascara is bulky compared to the sleek ones available. The product comes unsealed so make sure you pick ones from the back. There is some information on the bottle. The quantity of the product is pretty good compared to the ones currently sold.
The screw cap holds the wand in it. There is a click sound when you close and this makes sure that the product doesn’t dry within. The packaging is travel-friendly and I haven’t noticed any issues with it. Considering the tube and previously tried volume mascara from Essence, I expected the bristles to be longer. The bristles are shorter than I thought but are densely packed.
The wand is long enough and it picks up the product effectively and eases application and it also separates the lashes. The company claims that the flower-shaped bristles adds volume to the eyelashes. The mascara sticks to the lashes very well during application and with a sweep it adds noticeable volume. The mascara also lengthens the lashes, which is great.
With a single coat, you can enhance the natural look of your lashes; with 2-3 coats, you can make the lashes look dramatic without going overboard. The product is deeply pigmented and is rich black in color. There is a lot of mascara that comes up with the wand and can be a mess. This leads to clumpy application and can add this residue onto your lashes. The shape of the wand makes it difficult to use it near the inner corners of the eyes.
The mascara dries pretty fast, and also since it gives results within the first use, the 10-second claim holds true. The mascara is smudge proof and stays put without any tiny flakes falling off. The product comes off easily when I use a makeup remover. The mascara is not waterproof. Even though it doesn’t budge, with heavy rain or mist there are chances that you might end up with racoon eyes.
The mascara lasts around 5-6 hours, which is satisfactory. The product contains silicones which make me think if it is safe. However, for now, it hasn’t caused any issues and doesn’t irritate the eyes. Overall, it is a good everyday mascara but I would prefer waterproof ones over this any day.

This affordable mascara is worth a try but I might not repurchase it as I prefer waterproof ones.
