I have not dabbled with a lot of Hollika Hollika skin care products, so I can’t be a judge of the brand overall, but I would like to share my opinion about this collagen starter. It has 3 variants and I bought the one with “collagen” in it. Collagen is a well-known ingredient in skin care products and is known for its skin reviving and rejuvenating properties. This ingredient was the reason why I bought this product.

3-second starter collagen is the moisturizing start that helps to moisturize and firm your skin. Collagen works in tandem with elastin to give skin its texture, structure and appearance. It contains marine collagen which is extracted in the ocean. This is responsible for keeping the skin smooth and wrinkle free. Trehalose is a sugar which I sfound in cactus plant. The sugar protects cactus from dying in deserts and retaining water.

My Experience with Holika Holika 3 Seconds Starter Lifting and Moisturizing Collagen:
Skin care industry is inundated with myriad skin care products and all are full of complex-sounding chemicals. Skin care ingredients have become more esoteric and require mild reading to know more about their benefits and side effects and most important of all it is essential to know about what ingredients that should not be used together.
This toner or rather pre-toner has to be used right after cleansing and face wash. It is best to apply it before skin water on the skin dries out completely. The product comes in a sturdy, plastic bottle with a big nozzle (the kind used to dispense foam-based products). One pump of the nozzle dispenses a pea-sized product. It looks and feels like clear aloe vera gel and does not have a strong odor of any kind.
The major ingredient of this product is water and ethanol which renders it bit harsh for people with sensitive skin. Third ingredient is a silica based compound which makes this product slippery to touch. Collagen is the 7th ingredient which is obviously lower in percentage but I guess small amount of a potent chemical and do wonders.
It also contains a special sugar complex trehalose, which comes from a desert plant and is known to protect skin cells and help in skin rejuvenation. Collagen and trehalose add moisture to skin and make it appear firmer.
The product comes in a 150ml size bottle, which is good quantity for the money paid. It applies like a primer on face except it does not leave any kind of residue on the skin and gets absorbed in a matter of seconds. I have used this product over a month now and it appears to have made my skin firmer. This could also be because of other skin care products that have been using but nevertheless I enjoy slathering this gel on my face first thing in the morning.
Pros of Holika Holika 3 Seconds Starter Lifting and Moisturizing Collagen:
- It is an affordable face toner with an appealing ingredient list.
- Comes in a good size bottle with a pump dispenser on top. The packaging is sturdy and translucent.
- Has no fragrance.
- Has no artificial color.
- Ingredient list is clearly disclosed in English (not usually done by other Korean brands).
- It appears to have made my skin firmer and has reduced the appearance of pores.
- The product comes in three variants.
Cons of Holika Holika 3 Seconds Starter Lifting and Moisturizing Collagen:
- Availability can be an issue for some but some Korean websites do ship to India as well.
- It could be expensive for some if converted to INR.
- It contains a high amount of alcohol which could be harsh for sensitive skin.
It is a rather unique product because it has to be applied even before the first step of skin care. It contains goodness of collagen and over a periods of few weeks, it appears to make skin firm and more elastic. I invest in Korean skin care a lot and I am glad that most of them are not disappointing.
