I remember, the first time I tried a gel eyeliner and was taken aback by the its quality, texture and longevity. Since then, I have tried a couple of them. Sometimes going back to my liquid ones as the best quality of gel liners tend to be the worst as well, I mean there is no room for mistakes and to err is human. It takes a lot of pain to remove and reapply it and I belong to those breed of women who would have perfect symmetrical liner or have none at all 😀 Today, I am reviewing a gel liner in a pencil from Julep and the shade is Olive.
What It Is?
Clinically proven to last for 10+ hours, this easy-to-use eye pencil delivers a creamy formula and intense color payoff of a gel eyeliner. The waterproof formula glides on, sets in 30 seconds, and then stays put because eyeliner should not stand in the way of adventures.
What It Does?
It glides on smoothly with no dragging or pulling. It delivers rich, intense color that sets in 30 seconds and lasts for 10+ hours of wear(it is clinically proven!).
How To Use?
To make application even easier, warm up your JULEP Olive Gel Eye Glider by running it across the back of your hand.
Isododecane, Iron Oxides (CI 77492/77499), Synthetic Wax, Hydrogenated Polydicyclopentadiene, Mica, Peg/Ppg-18/18 Dimethicone, Polybutene, Glyceryl Tribehenate/Isostearate/Eicosandioate, Nylon-12, Polyethylene, Perfluorononyl Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-4 Diisostearate/Polyhydroxystearate/Sebacate, Synthetic Beeswax, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax.
This liner comes in a cardboard box with the shade name and the shade color at one end to make identification easier. The pencil is required to be sharpened and that is something I do not like as it leads to wastage of product. The pencil does have a protective cap and I think it would be safe for travel.
My Experience with Julep Olive Gel Eye Glider:
In this new era, the makeup products have so many varieties. Just look at the humble liner that was one just kajal for us Indians and today we have liquid, waterproof, gel etc. Among this competition, there are some great budget brands and some high end ones, who have niche markets. During my college years, I have used the budget brands and have loved them as I do the high end ones now. So, I guess products may be expensive or non-expensive for the user it is all relative.
I got Julep Olive Gel Eye Glider along with the lip gloss I reviewed earlier. The store had all the shades but as I already own a black, blue, brown and plum one and I realized a green one was missing in my collection so the olive shade was the undisputed choice.
The liner is very creamy and I mean it. Though, I have used gel liners and all of them were creamy but this is entirely different. The eye lining procedure gets go much fun and less stressful with this that I can not explain. One line and its perfect because there are no gaps or slips it is a single solid line. You can see the swatches that tell the story.
The liner lasted on my lids for about 6 hours and then faded gradually. It would be great, if one can dust it with the same shade of eyeshadow a bit because sometimes on accidental touching it does get smudged. This could be because of that extra creaminess. It is a great eyeliner and as far as bloggers say it is going to be a tough competitor of UD glide on pencils, well I have not used any of those, so can not really compare.
Pros of Julep Olive Gel Eye Glider:
- Creamy and super glide on line.
- Lot of shades.
- Does not irritate eyes.
- Long wearing.

- Sulphate free.
Cons of Julep Olive Gel Eye Glider:
- Sharpening leads to product loss.
