Lisa Eldridge Makeup Artist for the Celebs and YouTube Makeup Guru

Let me just start by saying that I have missed interacting with you all here on IMBB. With my new job and last semester of MBA, I was finding it hard to take time out for some therapy. Yes, IMBB is like soul therapy for me. Just reading articles here, watching the myriad array of images of you gorgeous girls, interacting via comments is food for my soul and how I missed it! So, if you may, I would like to present another article after the long hiatus.

I have written here on IMBB on a variety of makeup artists on YouTube but my list was severely missing Lisa Eldridge, who is hands down amongst my absolute favourite. I absolutely adore her and when you guys start watching her videos, I am sure you will feel the same way.  Many of you may already be following her as her name is synonymous with online-beauty LEGIT-EXPERT experts!   Just looking at this image can give you an idea of how beautiful her transformations can be:

Lisa Eldridge

Here’s a little about her from her blog:

“Lisa Eldridge has become one of the most highly regarded make-up artists on the international beauty and fashion circuits today. Her signature look, best described as a fresh, flawless skin and an understated modern approach to beauty, has made her indispensable to supermodels, celebrities and magazine editors alike.  In addition, Lisa has collaborated with many of the world’s top fashion and beauty houses on their advertising campaigns and fashion shows including Chloe, Alberta Ferretti, Prada, Donna Karan, Moschino and PPQ.  The list of celebrities she has made up reads like a who’s who of the world’s most glamorous women including Cameron Diaz, Liz Hurley, Mischa Barton, Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Cate Blanchet, Demi Moore and Selma Hayek.” You can read the rest here.

Having mentioned this, her clientele is not what impresses me about her, but it is the quality of her videos and the makeup, pearls of wisdom that she showers in each video. I have learnt A LOT through her videos and she keeps it real. No forced sponsorships or biased opinions about brands. She is very factual and I feel like she just genuinely wants to help her viewers buy the best products and utilize them to their money’s worth and beyond. Even though she is a high-fashion/editorial makeup guru as well, she doesn’t shove high-branded products down our throats, but switches up her makeup to showcase the best from all categories of products. Whether it is a high-end brand or a drugstore, Ms. Eldridge presents their pros and cons in a much unprejudiced manner.

Her YouTube page has over 110 videos each better than the next! It will be hard to pick out the absolute best from these cause each one of them has some gem of makeup – a technique or a product or a tip, that can enhance our entire outlook towards makeup! These videos are categorised into helpful Playlists:

A video of her that single handedly changed my philosophy on lipstick forever has to be this one:  One Lipstick – Many Different Ways to Wear It.

This lipstick video is a must see. Go through it and you will know why. I view each lipstick in my kit so differently now and can get more use from each.

Another one of my favourite videos is this one: Anything Goes Liquid Liner – Dark Olive Green

I love this brilliant way of applying liquid eyeliner, it is a bit extreme, but if you get it right, it looks amazing!

To understand the research she puts behind her work and the sheer knowledge she has of makeup, you have to check out this video: Marilyn Monroe – Iconic Make-up Look.

It is not just another celebrity makeup look, but there are so many tips and tricks in it that it is worth spending the 11+ minutes on it. Marilyn Monroe, undoubtedly, is a tour de force in the makeup world, what she alone has done with her makeup artist, Allan “Whitey” Snyder, for the way we apply makeup today is unprecedented and Lisa captures that essence wonderfully in this video.

Her other popular video is the one on acne covering:

This can be extremely helpful for anyone suffering from severe or even light spots on their faces. This is a great guide. Her philosophy behind makeup is so smart, that you end up paying attention to each of her words and can’t help but think “That is so simple! Why didn’t I think of that?!” .

Her other videos that I strongly recommend is this one.

This has also been personally very helpful for me.

I can go on and on about the gorgeous Lisa Eldridge and keep posting her videos till this becomes the longest post ever on IMBB – past, present and future! But I think I should just let any of you interested to discover for yourselves what all you can learn from this makeup EXPERT. There is so much to learn! All her videos are brilliant and I think she has such a calming voice and the British accent is like a cherry on cake, make it whipped cream, plus nutty-choco sprinkles, hot fudge and then a cherry on it! I love the softness in her demeanour, she is just so classy! I hope you all do check her out. Trust me girls, she is a wonder!

Thank you all for taking time to read an article of mine. You guys are the best and oh how I miss the smileys/emoticons! 🙁

Happy Makeuping!

  4. I remember the first video of hers I watched was an Audrey Hepburn look. The skill she exhibits is superb! And you are right about the lipstick video, Nafisa, I too use my lipsticks more now!

  5. Lisa Eldridge is so gorgeous and genuine artist! i love how she really wants to help her followers by not endorsing any brands but what we can achieve by using other not so high fi brands! totally love her!

  7. Great article, Nafisa! Was just wondering, how Lisa hasn’t been mentioned as yet on IMBB…She is truly a make-up guru & icon for me. I’ve been following her for quite some time now. She is such a humble & down-to-earth person, despite being so well known. Oh! and the knowledge she has & shares on make-up is as good as going to a make-up school & getting tutored…I can just keep listening to her. Though she has so many make-up tutorial videos, my favorite has been her Vintage make-up series…amazing, amazing stuff!!!
Kudos to you for this wonderful write-up on her & highlighting her work on IMBB.
