My Verdict on Lotus RoseTone:

Rose water is one my favourite product in skin care. I like how multipurpose it can be, like you can use it as a toner, mix it with face packs, make your own makeup fix with it, or you can just spritz it on the face to freshen up. I also put a few drops of rose water in my eyes to clear them up and relax them after a long day in front of the computer.

Unfortunately, I have had major issues with the most commonly used Dabur Gulabari/rose water on my skin. It stings my face badly, leading to a lot of redness and itching. I also tried rose water from Patanjali/Divya pharmacy and Ayur, and faced similar issues. I was planning to buy Fab India Rose Water, about which I have heard great reviews, but it remains out of stock on most outlets. So, I bought this instead as Lotus has been a trusted brand too.

I tried using it as toner for 2-3 days, but it would make my face a little greasy after some time. However, it is safe for my sensitive skin and I had no other issues with this. I think this will make an excellent toner for normal to dry-skinned beauties.

I have stopped using this as a toner now, instead, I just spritz it on my face everyday after coming from work and washing my face, when I don’t feel like following the complete CTM routine. It has slight moisturising properties, so I can easily skip the moisturiser then.

I use it often to prepare my face packs and also use it to blend my foundations, by spraying a little on my flat top buffer brush and it gives a better result.

Overall, I am more than satisfied with this rosetone from lotus and I will definitely repurchase.

Summing its pros and cons below:

 Gentle on my sensitive skin.
 Alcohol free.
 Contains added natural ingredients like aloe, tulsi, vetiver.
 Would be great for normal-dry skin as a toner.
 Easily available across stores.
 Decent packaging with spray dispenser.

 Makes oily skin greasy, so not suitable for them as a toner.
 I won’t be able to put this one in my eyes as it has a lot of other ingredients apart from rose water.
 The price is a little more when compared with Dabur rose water/Patanjali/Ayur ones.
 Contains parabens.

  6. this would be awesome for my skin tone furr furr :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: lekin why is it redd.. like rooafza :methinks: :methinks: :methinks:

        1. aaayinggg…. aishaa kya.. ohh haan outer cover pink colour inside colour transyyy 😛 😛
i like this one more…i real roses…pinkish colour :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: :pompom:

            1. :pompom: :pompom: m every ready to chit chat :yahoo: ok now i fire my questions to you as you the expert…why do foundations oxidise ?:) and how can I prevent the same? ?:)

                1. ohkay, foundys oxidise probbly coz of following reasons
                  – More acidic skin.
                  – A pink foundation over a yellow undertone skin color.
                  – Foundation components reacting to the sebum in our skin.
                  – Oils in our skin or moisturizer intensifying the color of the pigments.

              1. parita actually sometimes the pigments react with the oils in our skin and that changes the color of the foundations.

Solution : use primers and set your makeup with powder always.

                  1. once i read this interesting but impractical tip… buy foundy one shade lighter than ur skin tone if ur foundiz oxidise n make ur face look dark 😛 😛 😛

                    1. it works actually. That’s why mostly in summers a lot of mua as use a shade lighter foundation for bridal makeup. All that heat and stress and long hours make the foundation a little darker. 🙂

                    2. :puchhi: :puchhi: Thank you nupur for your detailed info..I dont use primers but do set it up using a compact or loose powder and still it oxidises on me 🙁 now toh m super scared of trying out any foundations on me.. :chewnails

                    3. haan vidya tikari toh :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho: :jaiho:
me contacted them for makeup classes- its 30 k for 3 day class :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame:

                1. :thanks: Rati for your tips..i’ll def try using a primer and see if it works :teddy:
btw is it possible that translucent powder may also react with foundation? should we always use foundation and setting powder from the same brand to avoid such reactions? ?:)

                  1. I agree Rati 😀 :methinks: :methinks: fur fur our primer queen pleez suggest a good primer for me na especially which can be worn to office ?:) I tried the l’oreals new base magique primer the other day as heard some great reviews on it but i think it felt little sticky on my skin so didnt go for it..

                    1. parita, i wud suggest u shud always try your makeup before buying… be it primer or foundation 🙂
sadly in India, companies are not very consumer friendly and its shameful how SA s at most counters refuse that they cant provide samples. :pissedoff: :pissedoff:

                  2. I agree with you nupur..though I do check the foundation by applying it on my jaw line but i guess the foundation stays put for few hours and then later starts to oxidise..
i so agree with you..brands in india should start giving samples..its so very important!

                    1. parita, i quite like mufe primer bt that’s available only in mumbai. 🙁 check mac prep and prime? id you ahve very oily skin check inglot as well. 🙂

  7. arrey, I have the same oxidizing problem with L’Oreal True match liquid, :waaa: but mineral foundation good..try Chambor ya L’Oreal wala..i totally love L’Oreal for that.. :waytogo:

Btw, great review Nupur, :thanks: specially the part where you say its moisturizing in itself..little greasy my face feels when I put it on..but wipe it with damp tissue and I’m done..no greasiness after that.. :yahoo: :yahoo:

  8. Hey Nupur,
Nice review 😉 😉 . I want to try it, bt i am in a search of products with out parabens.. I wish i could get a list of some.. O:) O:)

  9. hmm…. seeing the pinky pinky colour i thought this wont be good…like artificial artificial….but after reading this review i think will get this… otherwise , i was planning for fab india wala..or aroma magic

i never buy these brands ka rosewater.. with colour and preservatives…we have this unani/ayurvedic very reputed shop in mumbai called hamdard..im not sure if they have a branch in delhi.. i buy from them..ekdum real extracts.. thoda expensive but no chemicals at all.. and is reallly heavenly…

    1. par come to think of it i hvnt used hat or rose water in years…!!! now i feel like going and buying and seeing if its still the same pure rosewater :woot: :woot: :woot:
