This is my 1st shadow from MAC.. yayyyyyyyy
I actually wanted a bronzer kinda thingy to contour my cheeks so I went to a MAC store and the SA tried like a truckload of things on my face but I either ended up looking orange (the Snooki effect) or ghastly (The zombie effect) and both were definitely not welcome..
So she (with her dibbis) and me (with my color streaked face) both are almost at our wits’ end and suddenly she thinks of something and runs in her little corner. hubby was happpily sure that finally the SAs have abandoned me and me was all grumpy faced when she suddenly appeared with this baby.. And after asking her at least thrice if she indeed had the right product, I allowed her to apply it on my face.
MAC says: It is a satin finish eyeshadow and is muted grayish-taupe in color. Highly-pigmented powder. Applies evenly, blends well.
(look at the irony- I always said that my 1st shadow will be taupe- and it is!)
My Take on MAC Coquette Eyeshadow
This truly is a multi-function eyehadow. It acts as a good contouring product, an eyebrow powder, and of course- an eyeshadow. I felt the pigmentation is not so great or maybe it is very light in color because the camera was not picking up the swatch on my hand. but when I apply it on my crease, it magically shows up after some time so initially I did go a bit overboard with it :chewnails:
There is negligible fallout which is a good thing. when I test it on the back of my hand, it looks like a light khaki brown. But somehow I feel it has some olive/khaki tones to it. I donno- its a confooosing color.. has a little bit of shimmer to it so it doesnt look totally flat and boring. I use it for day and night both. seriously- its universal 🙂 Also, on the brows it looks very natural and put together- not in your face kinds!
And even for contouring, the SA asked me to take a very little amount and apply it just where my cheekbone starts and blends- almost to an invisible finish.. I still have to master that so can’t really explain it here (maybe I’ll do a post on contouring ;))
so…. summing it up:
Yayys of MAC Coquette Eyeshadow
1. Staying power is great. almost 5-6hrs without creasing.
2. Very apt for day as well as nightwear.
3. Complements with most other shades.
4. works great as an eyebrow filler.
5. Works great for contouring your cheeks (if you have a weird pale skin like me)
6. Almost negligible fallout.
7. works great as a layering shadow too.
Nays of MAC Coquette Eyeshadow
2. If applied more it kinda looks muddy. (I went really crazy one time and applied loads… of course it had to look like a muddy mess)
Final verdict: This is kind of an unsung hero for me. It gained its place in my must-have bag and even for travel its very appropriate.
will I repurchase? I don’t think this is getting over soon…
Will I recommend? yes yes… for working girls this is a best bet.. also for nude makeup lovers 🙂
so, did you like the shadows and the eye-do??? :))
