Before I start the review, let me tell you an incident. I was always in love with colored eye liners. I had pencils of all the possible colors and a roommate and I used to wear blue and pink all the time and we loved it.. (yes, pink eye pencil- it looks great when not smudged otherwise it might look like someone punched you!) So we were happy for a week and then this girl started taunting us indirectly about the whole western influence and how only girls with loose charachter and pub-hoppers used eye liners like that. After that we kind of cooled down a bit and didn’t really go for so much color… but that didnt stop me from hoarding the colored liners.. hehehhe
So, I saw this liner on Rad’s blog last month and was all ga-ga about it and then conveniently forgot about it.. but last week when I was at CVS I found this range and I was so happy :happydance: not to mention I HAD to get it… hehehe
It is a persian blue kinda color- reminds me of the Camel Ink we used in school- sachhi. I saw it and I thought of that ink. I came to know later that the line is a part of Maybelline’s Fall Fashion Week 2011 collection. awesome right? Other colors available include black, brown, eggplant (a purple shade), and charcoal (a gray). And a special mention for Forest – its a beautiful green and I was this close to picking it up but the probability of me using blue is much larger than green – but I really recommend the green shade as well- its uniquely beautiful!
Packaging: They’re packaged in glass pots, with black lids and the brand name, and product, printed in silver. They have a sticker on the bottom with the color name and some company information. It comes with a brush which, to my pleasant surprise is very good and useful. Ideally the brushes coming with kits are utterly useless-right?
My experience With Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
It is a jewel toned blue but very wearable. It glides on your eyes like a dream. I was happily smiling when I applied this. But for a dark opaque finish you might have to go over it once. It looks great as a light swipe on the lid and also when thickly lined. It just gives a nice pop of color. It stayed on my eyes for 3-4 hours without a primer and then kinda transferred to my upper lid. but I guess with a primer it will go a long way. yesterday’s swatch on my hand is still there- just lightened a bit 😉 The SA told me that ladies take the brown one as a brow product (I wonder how that works!)
Let me sum it up.
Pros of Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
– Long lasting.
– Dries quickly.
– The shades in this collection are a treat.
– Smooth application.
– Can be applied on the waterline(worked for me)
– Smudge proof.
– Water proof.
– Eye rubbing proof (If you know what I mean)
– The brush is equally great.
Cons of Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
– Removing this is a wee bit of a pain.
– This and the Forest green are Limited edition.
Other than that I found no fault with it so far.
Final Verdict: I love , Love, love this a lot and Im definitely picking the black one too and if my craving gets the better of me I might get the green too :secret2:
