How are you doing today? I am back again to share one of my oldest body lotions with you all which somehow remain submerged inside my bathroom cabinets only to re-surface later on an attempt to clean my home. Well, we are expecting a few guests and it is the only time when my poor kitchen or bathroom cabinets enjoy a lavishing cleansing & toning routine lol Excuse me I am a mom plus a beauty addict and as they say “Both of us can’t look good at the same time, it’s me or the house” 😛
Anyway, let’s move on to today’s review before someone like my hubby moves too far with this highly contagious & embarrassing me topic 😛 So, I had been using Nivea body lotions since they were launched in markets and I still remember their tin box all purpose cream which was our go to fix for winters! And this Nivea body lotion certainly brought back those happy memories apart from serving my concerns for good 7-8 months.
I bought it last year after enough temptation on its “skin firming” and “Hydra IQ” claims, I am not sure about its skin firming claim though! However, it definitely does what it claims to do up to good extent. Please read on further to know more about Nivea Q10 Plus with Hydra IQ Skin Firming Body Lotion!
Price: $5-$6 for 6.8 Fl Oz (200 ml) and $8-$10 for 13.5 Fl Oz (400 ml), price varies across stores.
My Experience with Nivea Q10 Plus Skin Firming Hydration Body Lotion:
I bought the biggest packaging of this Nivea skin firming lotion which comes in a plastic opaque bottle packaging with pump dispenser opening while the smaller packages come with flip top cap opening. However, it is impressive to see that they have close & open mechanism with this pump dispenser to avoid accidental leakages or make it child proof, truly appreciable. Seriously, I have lost count of such pump opening bottles lacking this mechanism which were completely emptied and thrown by our super notorious baby girl. Now I am relaxed even if she plays with this huge bottle in my absence at least I am saved from cleaning the mess while mourning over my product & dollars dumped as well. Lol (I know it’s temporary pleasure till she learns the trick to open it and the day is very near :P) Anyway, it does have mild synthetic smell to my dislike which stays for few minutes on our skin. Overall I didn’t find it travel friendly due to its bulky size but the packaging is definitely hygienic and user friendly.
First of all I am in love with the lightweight texture of this lotion irrespective of its skin firming or other claims. Even if it does nothing to plump up my skin or body I would love to get it for its highly moisturizing yet non-greasy texture. Yes girls, it seems like a milky white lotion, slight watery in texture but enough hydrating for good 6-8 hours. In fact I feel it gives me well hydrated, super soft skin for continuous 10+ hours during summers which certainly does not match with its 24 hours hydration claim!
Whatsoever, I love it for its non-greasy, non-sticky texture most especially in summers. It never accentuated sweating from my hands, I liberally apply it on my body even in current summers and high humid weather and it disappears within minutes onto my skin leaving behind fresh, soft skin and no grease at all. Having been used of it for 6-7 months I can say that I certainly do not noticed any visible skin uplift or firming effect though I had no such expectations from this lotion either. But certainly my skin felt soft and tight as per my age group. I mean my fellow age group moms and relatives do say that my hands and feet still look like that of a college girl how I wish they would have complimented it for my facial skin 😛 lol.
It certainly makes me believe that the lotion does work on the first signs of ageing as well though I don’t believe it would treat sagging skin or firm skin in as little as 2 weeks! I treat it as my daily skin care regime for maintaining good skin unlike treating or firming skin hence I am pretty happy with this product. Moreover, its consistency in my closet since a year explains how much I like it. I might get it again for its non-greasy texture especially for summers after my post swim work out.
Though people expecting miracles from this lotion to firm skin will only feel dejected to be honest! If you are looking for a lightweight, non-greasy lotion for your body then try it. I must say that there is no such lotion or product ever which will treat or ease our pain of shedding that extra cellulite or firming our sagging skin without any workout. The only way to get firm, glowing skin is eat & drink healthy, smile liberally and sweat sweat sweat!
Let’s sum up pros and cons..
Pros of Nivea Q10 Plus Skin Firming Hydration Body Lotion:
• A light weight, non-greasy milky body lotion with super hydrating ingredients like: co-enzyme q10 complex and its innovative hydra IQ technology.
• It does moisturize my skin in winters for a good 6-8 hours while I feel super soft and hydrated for good 10+ hours in summers.
• It absorbs within seconds on my skin leaving behind no greasy or oily residue just soft, hydrated skin.
• It never accentuated sweating from my hands even after using it liberally in hot humid weather that too every day.
• It gives me super soft skin post swimming without any sticky or greasy feel at all.
• I woke up to super soft hands whenever I massage it at bedtime.
• I did felt that my hands and feet skin looks quite younger as per my age group which means its firming claims are true up to some extent.
• It may not firm up saggy skin within 2 weeks but it will definitely rejoice wilted, dehydrated skin within a week.
• It is great for every skin type.
• Quite child proof and user friendly packaging.
Cons of Nivea Q10 Plus Skin Firming Hydration Body Lotion:
• I do think 24 hours claims that too for dry skin are a little exaggerated.
• It cannot firm up saggy skin in as little as 2 weeks.
• Presence of parabens and mineral oil might be bothering to sensitive skin.
• It does have a nasty synthetic smell which might be a turn off.
IMBB Rating: 4/5 for super hydrating and non-greasy texture though it deserves 3.5/5 for all the claims :P!
Well honestly I have no such issues with this lotion though I am particular about parabens and might skip it for this reason. In general I would simply say that firming skin or toning skin with a lotion is nothing less than a marketing gimmick. We can never achieve or reverse our age other than ageing gracefully that too with our healthy lifestyle and work outs. There is no short cut to healthy, toned and a firm body boss!!
