Philips Curl Care Control HP 8618

Hi Girls!!!

Today I will be reviewing Philips Conical Curler HP8618. It is the latest wand type hair curler from the Philips styling range. I always wanted to invest in a curling iron, and after looking at most of the options, this one appeared to be the best choice.

About Philips Curl Care Control HP 8618:

Philips Curl Care Control Conical Curler is an off white colour ceramic curling wand. It claims to give hyper sumptuous, soft curls, radiating shine, voluptuous chic waves, with lots of volume and thickness. The curl ready indicator on the wand enables you to create variations in the curls without compromising on hair health. Conical shape of barrel with diameter from 13 to 25 mm allows you to create different types of curls and waves. Silky smooth ceramic coating of the barrel is twice as smooth on your hair.
The curler has a digital temperature control to suit your hair type, the maximum temperature being 200 degrees. The wand also has a swivel cord which makes it easier to use without the wire getting entangled around the curler.

My Experience with the Philips Curl Care Control HP 8618:

Alright, so I have straight hair and I totally totally love curls. Every time I go to a salon for hair styling I opt for curls. I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a curling rod and try using it myself instead of running to the salon each time. What motivated me the most was this video on Philip’s website where this lady shows how easy it is to use the curling wand yourself. I was completely impressed and without thinking twice I went and bought it. It had a big list of instructions on how to use it; I read everything carefully and set the temperature to 180 to get nice curls. Since its conical in shape, if you wrap your hair around the tip of the curler you will get small and tight curls and if you are looking for large and loose curls then wrapping your hair towards the base of the wand will work. Honestly when I attempted the curls, I failed miserably.

Not that the curling rod doesn’t work properly but it needs a lot of practice. I divided my hair in sections and started curling; first of all you need to get the direction in which you are wrapping your hair right with each strand you curl. Also you need to hold the strand with your other hand till the curling rod beeps, since this does not has a clip on the wand to hold your hair in place. I burnt my finger twice while attempting curls after which I wrapped everything and kept it aside. I feel if someone else can do it for you, this product will not be so bad. Another tip is to practice with the power switched off so that you do not burn yourself, and once you are confident on how you want to use it, plug it on.

Whatever little I have used of this curling rod, the results were just as the company claimed. It is capable of giving varied curls as per your preference. It did not cause any damage to my hair either.

– One curling rod is capable of creating both large and small curls as per your preference.
– Digital temperature control that can be set according to your hair type.
– Swivel cord which keeps it detangled while using.
– Ceramic coating which is smooth on your hair and does not harm your tresses.

Will I Recommend Philips Curl Care Control HP 8618 to Friends?

Well, if you are sure you can practice how to use a curling rod or you have someone who can do it for you, it is actually a good product. For me it did not work and I still prefer going to the salon for my curls.
