Nandini D. asks:

Happy New Year Everyone!!

I had question since many days , I was looking for a primer and a foundation which would suit my skin tone. Few days back I got one from MAC , it kind of makes my skin look darker, not lighter. I am not sure what to use on my skin .. Please help me out with this selection, because when I attend meetings, I find it really to not have the right makeup on. Pleas guide on what to use for a primer and foundation to get my base right.

Thanks.

  1. Good primers= Bourjois flower perfection, NYX, Revlon photoready-perfecting & color correcting both
Good Foundtions= Bourjois Healthy Mix, Clinique superbalanced, Revlon photoready and colorstay both
Most importantly- when u go out to purchase ur foundation, ask the SA on the counter to apply it on ur half face. Let it settle for some time and then see if it is a good match for ur skin tone.

  2. Hi! 🙂

If your foundation is a water based foundation, then try smashbox light primer. You can also try their HD microperfecting primer that comes in different colours, and there is one that combats ashiness in deeper skin tones, and one that lightens deeper skin tones (if that’s what you are after, hon).

If your foundation is not a water based foundation, then Too Faced primed and poreless works best. You can even use any BB cream as a primer. It works really well, and then you wouldn’t need to use as much foundation.

    Hope that helps!

  3. try mac fix plus or inglot primer..both are pretty god..as for foundations you may have got the wrong shade? try the foundations in the store and roam around for couple of hours to see how it performs or get samples and use them before buying the whole bottle
you can check out inglot ysm foundation or mac studio fix foundation or chambor matte one..its new and pretty good for daily wear

    1. i totally agree with Parita… try a foundation and walk about a bit with it on your full face… check in different lights… go to the washroom, outside, different stores… you’ll be able to note how it looks on you in different lights…. if you’re convinced, buy it… else try something else…
this way, you’ll also be sure if it’s good for your skin type… so that’s a double check 🙂

If an SA tells you that a particular shade would be your best match… ask her to apply that shade, plus a lighter and a darker shade on your jaw line…. that’ll give you the best idea about the shade…
buying a foundation can take a long time if you have uneven skin tone….
