The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter and Soap Review

This is a sequel of my previous review about Satsuma shower gel and body polish. I started using the Satsuma range’s soap and body butter as well and so I thought it is better to review it as soon as possible so you ladies can decide what you like to include in your shopping list from this kit.

1.Satsuma Soap

The Body Shop Satsuma Soap As mentioned in my previous post, this came with the Satsuma Bath and Bloome kit gifted by my sister. Since I am going crazy about the bright color and smell I am just mentioning it here that people who love fresh fruity fragrance and bright colors I am sure you will love this range.

What does the product claims?
Best if you want to: Cleanse your skin with a moisturizing, vegetable-based soap that has a bright citrus scent to refresh and uplift the senses.
Best for: Normal skin
How it works:

  • Satsuma essential oil moisturizes skin and provides a natural citrus fragrance.
  • Glycerin is a water-soluble moisturizer that enriches foam and lather.

Usually I don’t go for Body Shop soaps as it takes a long time to get over compared to my other soaps. I will use one bar for more than 2 months!!!!  So by that time it gets over I’ll be very bored of this one. I already have another Satsuma Soap that is still unused. I need good lather to feel I had a refreshing bath but this one doesn’t lather much. So though I have started using this I always have the strawberry and satsuma body polish with me, so that I can use it whenever I am too bored with these soaps. Other than the smell and color I feel nothing great about this soap. Though it has glycerin, it neither moisturizes nor forms nice lather.

Pros of Satsuma Soap

  • Attractive color and fresh fruity smell.
  • I feel the cost is not very expensive for such a long-lasting soap. It costs Rs.145 in India for 100 gms.
  • I have never seen the body shop soaps becoming soggy and breaking.

Cons of Satsuma Soap

  • It doesn’t lather much so I don’t really feel as if I had a complete bath.
  • It lasts very long and by that time I get very bored with the smell and the soap as such.
  • The smell doesn’t last long until I use the body butter. I feel the smell is only due to the body butter and not the soap in any way.
  • It doesn’t moisturize my skin at all. I have a dry skin and I follow the same skin care regimen to moisturize like how I used to do with my previous soaps. This might suit people with oily skin.

My Rating – 3/5
Would I repurchase – No. I think I won’t be using soap bars anymore.

2.Satsuma Body Butter

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter

This is a smooth and light body butter that just glides on to my skin. Though it is light on my skin it retains the moisture throughout the day along with the aroma. I have used few other body butters from The Body Shop and I have felt they are very thick and hence being very difficult to apply. I really have to rub hard again and again and this used to consume a lot of time. So I always prefer a body lotion over the body butter. I thought even this one would be the same but to my surprise it was very light and at the same time not very runny.

What does the product claims?

  • Best if you want to: Soften your skin with a refreshing, citrus-scented cream that moisturizes for up to 24 hours.

Best for: Normal skin
How it works: The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter

  • Satsuma essential oil moisturizes skin and provides a natural citrus fragrance.
  • Community Trade shea butter moisturizes and protects skin with a high level of antioxidant vitamins A, E and F.
  • Community Trade cocoa butter is an excellent moisturizer that melts at body temperature.

Pros of Satsuma Body Butter

  • The body butter is very light and hence it is very easy to apply.
  • It really moisturizes my dry skin that I feel the softness in my skin all day.
  • The fragrance lasts long as well. This while used with the shower gel, soap or body polish gives a pleasant smell through out the day.
  • A small amount goes a long way. I take a little more than coin size amount for my hand and that looks sufficient for my dry skin.

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter Swatch Cons of Satsuma Body Butter

  • I would have been 100% satisfied if they had given a bigger body butter and reduced the size of the shower gel as the body butter has to accompany the rest of the products in the kit to get the complete satsuma feel.

My Rating – 4/5
Would I repurchase – Yes for sure 🙂

  1. I am planning to buy a body butter soon and since i quite enjoy the citrusy fragrance, I might pick up wither this or sweet lemons one. 🙂

I have never been inclined to buy TBS soap. Found them pretty normal for the price you pay…Don’t you think?

    1. Ya Rati. I am not at all fond of soaps esp TBS ones. I really like this body butter. I want to try the sweet lemon one too but not until I finish my other moisturizers. 🙂

  2. I would so love to try this because I loooove the Satsuma scent, but my bf gets nauseous from orange/citrus scents so I cannot 🙁

    It looks so nice though

  3. Hi Mai. Even my hubby is not too fond of citrus frangrances but that is coz almost all the products I use have the fruity smell so he got bored. This one is an exception though, he really likes the smell of Satsuma range 🙂 Since I dont like soaps much I gave this soap to him 😉
