The Body Shop Organic Cotton Rounds Review

The Body Shop Organic Cotton Rounds

the body shop organic cotton rounds

A few months back I met a women at a beauty event. While chit chatting she mentioned about her daughter-in-law. I was completely shocked because the lady didn’t look a day older than 35. She told that she was 49 years old and would be 50 in a month. 😐 I just had to take some beauty tips from her. She said her biggest beauty secret was using cosmetic cotton pads. She mentioned that

we spend thousands of rupees on buying the best of skin care products but still use the regular cotton. The regular cotton rolls are not meant for your face. They were made for hospitals and for sanitary purposes. Every single day you use “khurdura” cotton on your face and underneath your eyes. Unintentionally you are slightly scratching your skin every singly day – twice a day. The cosmetic cotton pads are gentle. They are especially made for facial skin. NEVER use the regular cotton. She said that was the best anti ageing tip she could offer to me.

Right after the event, I went straight to The Body Shop and bought a pack of their organic cotton rounds. I have to say that these are one of the best cotton pads I have used so far.

Price : Rs 255 for 100 cotton pads.

  • They are very gentle on the skin. And especially great for the delicate under eye area.
  • They don’t leave the fluff behind.
  • These are available in both rounds and squares.
  • One side is soft and the other side is textured. the softer side can be used especially for the under eye area and the textured side can be used for the facil skin or nail polish removal.
  • They are organic.
  • They make great eye pads too. I dip them in ice cold water sometimes and place them on my eyes.
I’d suggest storing these in an airtight container. This way they’d stay cleaner and more organized. You can pretty much use the pack they come in to store these but be sure to close the pack every time you pull out a few rounds.

Cotton pads by the body shop

Overall I am very happy with these cotton pads. Instantly I could feel the difference between using the regular cotton and these cotton rounds. I’d suggest all of you to invest in good quality cosmetic cotton pads. It may not necessarily be the TBS ones but any good quality ones would do. Earlier I used to be lazy buying cotton pads but not any more. I am not going back to the khurdura cotton for my face ever. πŸ˜€

  1. I use cotton rounds for everything! Nail polish remover, cleansing, toning, removing stubborn mascara, applying a bit of almond oil to moisturise face. Everything!

  2. I use Facial cotton pads of local brand which has satin-y surface..love the way it glides.. πŸ˜€ Though I use makeup in weekends only..but got hooked to facial pads.. πŸ™‚

    1. pallavi, hope you like them. πŸ™‚

I agree. Love how soft and gentle they are on skin. Feels like i was missing something all along. πŸ™‚

  3. Rati,
I dont use either cotton or any cotton pads. I dont use makeup on my face much. Its just kajal, lipbalm, moisturiser and suncreen. I have an acne prone face. My main battle has been going on with my acne, so I dont use any makeup because even a foundation breaks me out. I use cetaphil cleanser and pears face wash. I pat dry with towel. Do you think its enough? Or should we use a cotton pad when using toner.
Oh! and a nice review on the cotton pads. I never knew the simple looking cotton is actually rough on your facial skin. I thought it to be the softest thing to touch your face. πŸ™‚

    1. anshi, i think you should use a toner and do consult a derma for sure. I also realized after i actually started using these soft little rounds. they definitely help. πŸ™‚

  4. I wanted to pick these sometime ago..but let it go when the SA told me the price πŸ™
But after this review, I think it’s a gud investment even if used sparsely…

Right now using Bare Essentials sanitised cotton balls
Thx for the review Rati! πŸ™‚

  5. i have helen harper and some beauty care co from aussie but i cant live without these after i learnt about them
but these are coming home next πŸ™‚

  6. i use normal cotton balls on a daily basis, though i do have a pack of cotton pads that i bought from a shop in GK-I….but the miserly me saves them for travel(basically for flaunting in front of female friends)….lol…weird me! need to change….thanks for sharing Rati!

  7. i need some more more affordable brand suggestion here. Lately am realising, the hospital ones am using is very discomforting n scratches the skin super badly..specially the under eye area..i have been eyeing this tbs one for sometime now but “such a price for a cotton pad??” thought kept me away…from above comments i got one..bare essentials.. Rati, please reco more….

          1. Sukanya, I would suggest u against using colored cotton balls..they are coloured itself means they have been bleached…so not gud for the purpose we use them…

  8. hi, m not able to unstan , wat difference does it makes , using these over the regular cotton … and how can they contribute towards preserving the youth. I use Bare Essentials cotton balls , are they good enuff or you think I shud switch over to these. ?

  9. Hi Rati, I love these cotton rounds and have been using these for years, in different brands, my favourite ones are Swisspers which my friend sends me from Australia, and also the ones available abroad at Boots pharmacies are awesome. BTW, how are you, I need to email you few goings-on from my end. πŸ™‚

  10. i just use regular absorbent cotton , nw i too vl buy facial cotton only………..omg reading this blog , everyday i have some thing or the other to buy…lolz

  11. Even health and glow has its own brand of cotton pads Rati. And ever since i started using them i know how very rough the regular cotton balls are to the skin. πŸ™‚ will try TBS next time. πŸ™‚

  12. Thanks Rati for sharing the tip……I actually have heard that those cheap cotton packets are bleached ones which have been used earlier for some other purpose…eeekssssssssssss

    1. This is really scary…. I use the medicated cotton rounds only for nail polish removal.
I am going for the cosmetic cotton pads now for sure.

      1. Ashu…..bas local company ka you don’t buy, you don’t really know where the cheap cotton is coming from 😐 😐

            1. You’re right Jomo, sometimes these local or Chinese ones take used cotton from hospitals, it’s really gross :/ and resell it…same goes for ear buds also.

  13. I have been noticing how harsh cotton is to my under eye area! I have been eyeing these pads since long and now its time to get them. ur right Rati, we spend thousands on cosmetics and skin care and ignore this basic thing!

  14. I am using regular cotton available in medical shops only πŸ˜₯ now i can realize how harsh the cotton rolls are on my facial skin..
thanks for this post rati :)… i will look for cotton pads hereafter..

  15. Lovely tip Rati…and very nice review..even I started using cotton pads around a year back, when one of my friend suggested..she asked me not to use the regular cotton for face, as it is not meant for that..And I could actually feel the difference when I began using cotton pads..this looks wonderful indeed.. πŸ™‚

  16. OMG Rati I just came back from Health and Glow now, and had already bought Mannings cotton facial rounds when I saw this review πŸ˜€ I was going to take normal cotton then just for the heck of it picked this up instead, now I know it was a wise choice!! Thank youuu :* πŸ˜€
