Shahnaz Husain 24 Carat Gold Facial Kit

Shahnaz Husain 24 Carat Gold Facial Kit

I do think I am the reincarnation of Karl Scheele, the inquisitive scientist who died tasting his own discovery :P  Not that I am scientist material, but I can hardly resist being curious to the extent of being dangerously experimental. So many people talking about Shahnaz Husain’s “famous” gold facial got me thinking that there must be something about it and I should also try. I ruled out going to the parlour for getting the “famous” gold facial, I rather picked up the kit for myself  :smug:  Here, I would want to put a disclaimer, that I did not get this gold facial because of its “24-karat” gold claim.  I do not believe at all that there is gold sheet, dust, molecule, atom, ion, or whatever added in here. :-/  Here’s the review for the famous gold facial :snicker:

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

Product Description:

The gold skin radiance kit is a sensational innovation in achieving skin beauty and radiance.  Comprising of age-defying pure Gold Scrub, Gold Mask, Gold Gel, and Moisturizing Cream, it purifies, revitalizes and rejuvenates the skin, giving it a youthful and golden glow.

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

Price:

Rs. 599 for the small trial pack.

Directions For Use:

  • After cleansing, gently rub gold scrub on face and neck with circular movements.
  • Wipe off with moist cotton wool.
  • Massage with moisturizing cream, apply gold gel, gently rub till absorbed.
  • Apply gold mask, avoiding lips and area around the eyes.  Wipe off with moist cotton after 15 minutes.

My Take on Shahnaz Husain 24 Carat Gold Facial Kit:

I believe Shahnaz Gold Facial Kit is also available in a slightly larger version than what I am reviewing and showing here today, the one that is used in parlours.  The SA had told me that this facial kit could be used for 3 to 4 facials.  Looking at the size of the small containers, I didn’t believe her and the kit would last for exactly one time.

The kit comprises of four small tubs of scrub, cream, gel and mask. The net quantity of each tub is 10 gms.

Step 1:

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

24-Carat Gold Plus Exfoliating Scrub:

Description:

Specially reinforced with precious organic ingredients and 24 carat gold leaf, this highly advanced exfoliating scrub sloughs off dead celsl and promotes cell renewal. Botanical extracts of rose, orange peel, aloe vera, carrot seed and vitamin E, along with honey, soften dead epithelial celsl and help their efficient removal.  Enriched with natural antioxidants and enzymes, it rejuvenates the skin powerfully and irons out visible ageing signs.  The gold content purifies and brightens the skin superbly, leaving it smooth, supple and translucent, with a youthful glow.

Ingredients:

Aqua/water, Rosa Centifolia Flower Distillate, Polyethylene, Propylene Glycol, Citrus aurantium extract, Glycerin, Aloe Vera juice, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Parfum, Saccharide Isomerate, Polysorbate-20, Phenoxyethanol, Honey, Daucus carota extract, Methylparaben, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Propylparaben, Tocopherol, 24-Carat Gold Leaf, CI 15510.

What the Scrub Did For Me:

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

I started the facial process with the scrub.  I wet my face and used up the entire tub quantity for scrubbing.  The scrub is a bright yellow colored one with very mild particles, not even granules.  These exfoliating particles melt away quickly upon contact with the skin.  The particles do not exfoliate properly because they kind of dissolve away.  I wiped away the scrub with a moist cotton wool after 2 minutes of scrubbing.

Step 2:

Nature’s Gold Skin Radiance Gel:

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

A time-defying complex, incorporating 24- Carat Pure Gold, for cell rejuvenation and ageless skin.  Being one of the softest metals, it is easily absorbed by the skin, keeping it extremely young.

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water, Rose Water, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Aloe Vera Juice, Saccharide Isomerate, Carbomer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Honey, DL-Panthenol, Methylparaben, Potassium Sorbate, Propylparaben, 24 Carat Gold Leaf, Tetrasodium EDTA.

What the Radiance Gel Did For Me:

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

After wiping off the scrub, I took generous amount of gel and massaged it in.  The radiance is a clear gel with bits of “gold foil” in the gel.  The foil particles are very smooth and once you rub the gel in, the “paper foil”…oops, the “gold foil” doesn’t not dissolve, but kind of remains intact.  The gel is a bit cool and massaging it in is really easy.  Both the scrub and gel have mild fragrance.  After massaging the gel for a while, I applied the moisturizing cream next.  There is no need to wipe this off.

Step 3:

Shahnaz Husain Moisturizing Cream:

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

A moisturizing formula enriched with aloe vera, rose water, and vitamin E.  Most flexible moisturizing treatment suited to all skin types.  Easily absorbed by the skin, it provides maximum nourishment.  There is no need to wipe it off.

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water, Stearic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Rose Water, Glycerin, Olive Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Dimethicone, Aloe Vera Juice, Saccharide Isomerate, Ceratonia Siliqua, Triethanolamine, Acrylates/Acrylamide Copolymer (and) Mineral Oil (and) Polysorbate-85, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, and Isobutylparaben, Parfum, Tocopherol, Potassium Sorbate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynl Butylcarbamate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxycinnamate, CI 15510.

What the Moisturizing Cream Did For Me:

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

The moisturizing cream is a yellow-tinged thick cream which adequately moisturizes the skin.  It too has subtle fragrance and massaging with it is the easiest because it spreads nicely.  I massaged this cream for a bit more time than with the scrub and gel.  The cream gets absorbed into the skin and there is no need to wipe it off.

Step 4:

Nature’s Gold Beautifying Mask:

Shahnaz Husain Gold Facial

A potential anti-ageing formulation using pure 24 Carat Gold, rejuvenates and nourishes the skin giving it a long-lasting, youthful glow.

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water, Rose Water, Glycerin, Cellulose Gum, Chandan Ark, Aloe Vera Juice, Honey, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Agar Agar, Parfum, DMDM Hydantoin, Sodium Benzoate, Tocopherol, Tetrasodium EDTA, 24 Carat Gold Leaf, CI 15510.

gold facial

This is the last step of the facial and this mask is a gel type mask which again has bits of gold foil in it.  It gets quickly absorbed into the skin and imparts a cool feeling to the face.  The bits of foil though don’t dissolve that well.  Since this is a gel mask, it does not dry out after 15 minutes and I had to wipe it off with a cotton wool.

Last Word on Shahnaz Husain 24 Carat Gold Facial Kit:

Now, coming to the effectiveness of the facial, I don’t think its worth the “huge” hype, though I would not completely run down the product.  I did see a bit of a glow which I would attribute also to the massaging process; however, I do agree that getting the massage done by a professional gives better results.  I would like to think that even if I were using some other products without the “24-karat gold,” I would still would be able to get the same result.  I am kind of shocked that people would spend Rs. 1500 at parlours to get Shahnaz Husain gold facial and also amused that the prices of this particular facial costs and differs so much, it goes anywhere from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1500.  The scrub I feel is too mild for exfoliation, but the moisturizing cream, gel, and mask work better.  However, I do not see myself either repurchasing this kit nor getting this kind of facial done at a parlour, I am off it.

IMBB Rating:

3/5.

Jomo.. how did you know I wanted to buy this one? I have been thinking of buying a mini facial kit and considered this one.. good you reviewed it.

I have used Jovees gold facial kit and now using Naturence gold facial kit. I like them. I think they do bring a shine on face.

I purchased the gold gel and cream and kind of forgot all about for about close to four yrs and when I opened the jar which was sitting in my shelf all this while I found that some of the gold particles in the gel had changed colour and texture to a dark brown hard susbtance. There were still other “gold” particles in there as you would normally see. But, gold being a natural element should not be changing colour or texture. I later went online to learn more about the process in which gold leaves are made and infused in creams and gels and really must say that those particles are probably only “gold like” substances which tarnish over time. So ..please watch out and don’t try and infuse those”gold particles” into your skin as that may result in adverse reactions if done far too frequently !! Ladies …please watch out . The rate at which the unit price of pure gold is soaring one must think that those infused particles can’t be real gold.

I was told by the SA that the kit is sufficient for two facials but :nababana: it lasted only once..try VLCC Gold facial kit..it is also good and effective!

jomol April 11, 2012 at 8:23 pm

Sugandha…..no….I don';t think it is sufficient for two facials….may be the moisturizing cream would come for two facials, but the scrub and the mask would finish in the first time itself :methinks: :methinks:

I use VLCC Anti-Aging & Chocolate Facial Kits…but I dunno whether they live upto their claim or not..as I feel most of the facmasks/packs impart temporary glow only… :preen: And in facial kits to kya hota hai..we do massaging too..so it gives its contribution in bringing the glow to the face too..

Jomo I got diamond facial done before my wedding and honestly there wasnt and iota of glow on my face . :P But I feel that since this was a 4 step process you did do the process of massaging and giving that extra time to your face , which you wouldnt have otherwise done. It atleast helped in increasing the blood circulation and all. hai na… :-*

Reply

jomol April 12, 2012 at 9:31 am

Rati….I agree, the 4 step processes help you relax and the massaging of course helps, par gold and diamond ka koosh contribution nahin hai :headbang: :headbang:

i dont know which products work for me w.r.t facials but i know which dont and those include VLCC and Shahnaz H. But unfortunately for me these are the ones that are so readily available :(. I wish Lush had these mini facial kits but I bet they’d be quite expensive :( always get tempted to buy these facials but also scared to try anything new now that certain products work great..uffffff for a makeup/skincare addict like me its so difficult :headbang: :headbang:

all credit to you guys Jomol for making all these products look so good and tempting.

Aru…… :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi: if any such facial kit clicks with you, do tell me also. You know facial mein, you can devote a certain time and by the end of it, one feels relaxed also. If the products used are great, I think the results would be excellent…. :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: I am a skin care junkie too Aru….. :high5: :high5: :high5:

most certainly. you know what we should do? use a mild scrub (the everyuth walnut one or TBS seaweed scrub), then put on a face mask (we know which one works), after 15 mins wash off and then run an ice cube all over..and perhaps in the end apply a light moisturizer. for me sometimes that face mask itself makes a difference. i do miss the massage part but i get so bored getting facials done in the parlour especially that last 15 mins when they put a face mask and disappear. :waiting:

yes they are.. atleast they suit my senstive-combination skin… O:) O:) O:) i have tried their insta glow facial.. no breakouts and skin feels so smooth after that…   richfeel is a medicated brand with the goodness of nature and homeopathy (its what they claim). i have just tried their facial and m satisfied with it… :)

Honestly I am not a big fan of such facial kits..i do have one from vlcc and doesn’t do a thing for my skin..in fact even when i get facial done in a parlor I really don’t see much difference in my skin :( I would rather apply a homemade face mask :)

Truely speaking the molecule size of gold is larger than that of our pore size the the gold will never ever penetrate the skin. i personally feel these are all marketing strategies. if at all you have to penetrate any metallic ions into the skin, a machine has to be used which will split ions and force into the skin. in earlier days people used to add gold chunks in boiling water and then later after the water cools would remove the gold chunk and drink that water. this water had gold extracts which was helpful for heath as well as skin. so i would say that instead of running behind the gold get a perfect skin analysis done and then the right facial kits for yourself

The gold foil wala gel looks so phunny! :dumb: :hihi:
But yeah, this doesn’t seem to be worth it. And the quantity is good for 4 facials…for infants. :lol2:

I had always wondered what the hype about these products were. the ‘gold’ always used to lure me. But what’s the point if it just imparts a mild glow. I will skip this, Jomol, your post has been most helpful to me. I would also consider going for a regular facial if I ever want one done. After all the magic is in all the massage that they do. Reminds me I need to go for one soon. Dull skin talking here *haan ji*
