I do think I am the reincarnation of Karl Scheele, the inquisitive scientist who died tasting his own discovery Not that I am scientist material, but I can hardly resist being curious to the extent of being dangerously experimental. So many people talking about Shahnaz Husain’s “famous” gold facial got me thinking that there must be something about it and I should also try. I ruled out going to the parlour for getting the “famous” gold facial, I rather picked up the kit for myself :smug: Here, I would want to put a disclaimer, that I did not get this gold facial because of its “24-karat” gold claim. I do not believe at all that there is gold sheet, dust, molecule, atom, ion, or whatever added in here. :-/ Here’s the review for the famous gold facial :snicker:
The gold skin radiance kit is a sensational innovation in achieving skin beauty and radiance. Comprising of age-defying pure Gold Scrub, Gold Mask, Gold Gel, and Moisturizing Cream, it purifies, revitalizes and rejuvenates the skin, giving it a youthful and golden glow.
Rs. 599 for the small trial pack.
Directions For Use:
- After cleansing, gently rub gold scrub on face and neck with circular movements.
- Wipe off with moist cotton wool.
- Massage with moisturizing cream, apply gold gel, gently rub till absorbed.
- Apply gold mask, avoiding lips and area around the eyes. Wipe off with moist cotton after 15 minutes.
My Take on Shahnaz Husain 24 Carat Gold Facial Kit:
I believe Shahnaz Gold Facial Kit is also available in a slightly larger version than what I am reviewing and showing here today, the one that is used in parlours. The SA had told me that this facial kit could be used for 3 to 4 facials. Looking at the size of the small containers, I didn’t believe her and the kit would last for exactly one time.
The kit comprises of four small tubs of scrub, cream, gel and mask. The net quantity of each tub is 10 gms.
24-Carat Gold Plus Exfoliating Scrub:
Specially reinforced with precious organic ingredients and 24 carat gold leaf, this highly advanced exfoliating scrub sloughs off dead celsl and promotes cell renewal. Botanical extracts of rose, orange peel, aloe vera, carrot seed and vitamin E, along with honey, soften dead epithelial celsl and help their efficient removal. Enriched with natural antioxidants and enzymes, it rejuvenates the skin powerfully and irons out visible ageing signs. The gold content purifies and brightens the skin superbly, leaving it smooth, supple and translucent, with a youthful glow.
Aqua/water, Rosa Centifolia Flower Distillate, Polyethylene, Propylene Glycol, Citrus aurantium extract, Glycerin, Aloe Vera juice, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Parfum, Saccharide Isomerate, Polysorbate-20, Phenoxyethanol, Honey, Daucus carota extract, Methylparaben, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Propylparaben, Tocopherol, 24-Carat Gold Leaf, CI 15510.
What the Scrub Did For Me:
I started the facial process with the scrub. I wet my face and used up the entire tub quantity for scrubbing. The scrub is a bright yellow colored one with very mild particles, not even granules. These exfoliating particles melt away quickly upon contact with the skin. The particles do not exfoliate properly because they kind of dissolve away. I wiped away the scrub with a moist cotton wool after 2 minutes of scrubbing.
Nature’s Gold Skin Radiance Gel:
A time-defying complex, incorporating 24- Carat Pure Gold, for cell rejuvenation and ageless skin. Being one of the softest metals, it is easily absorbed by the skin, keeping it extremely young.
Aqua/Water, Rose Water, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Aloe Vera Juice, Saccharide Isomerate, Carbomer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Honey, DL-Panthenol, Methylparaben, Potassium Sorbate, Propylparaben, 24 Carat Gold Leaf, Tetrasodium EDTA.
What the Radiance Gel Did For Me:
After wiping off the scrub, I took generous amount of gel and massaged it in. The radiance is a clear gel with bits of “gold foil” in the gel. The foil particles are very smooth and once you rub the gel in, the “paper foil”…oops, the “gold foil” doesn’t not dissolve, but kind of remains intact. The gel is a bit cool and massaging it in is really easy. Both the scrub and gel have mild fragrance. After massaging the gel for a while, I applied the moisturizing cream next. There is no need to wipe this off.
Shahnaz Husain Moisturizing Cream:
A moisturizing formula enriched with aloe vera, rose water, and vitamin E. Most flexible moisturizing treatment suited to all skin types. Easily absorbed by the skin, it provides maximum nourishment. There is no need to wipe it off.
Aqua/Water, Stearic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Rose Water, Glycerin, Olive Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Dimethicone, Aloe Vera Juice, Saccharide Isomerate, Ceratonia Siliqua, Triethanolamine, Acrylates/Acrylamide Copolymer (and) Mineral Oil (and) Polysorbate-85, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, and Isobutylparaben, Parfum, Tocopherol, Potassium Sorbate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynl Butylcarbamate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxycinnamate, CI 15510.
What the Moisturizing Cream Did For Me:
The moisturizing cream is a yellow-tinged thick cream which adequately moisturizes the skin. It too has subtle fragrance and massaging with it is the easiest because it spreads nicely. I massaged this cream for a bit more time than with the scrub and gel. The cream gets absorbed into the skin and there is no need to wipe it off.
Nature’s Gold Beautifying Mask:
A potential anti-ageing formulation using pure 24 Carat Gold, rejuvenates and nourishes the skin giving it a long-lasting, youthful glow.
Aqua/Water, Rose Water, Glycerin, Cellulose Gum, Chandan Ark, Aloe Vera Juice, Honey, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Agar Agar, Parfum, DMDM Hydantoin, Sodium Benzoate, Tocopherol, Tetrasodium EDTA, 24 Carat Gold Leaf, CI 15510.
This is the last step of the facial and this mask is a gel type mask which again has bits of gold foil in it. It gets quickly absorbed into the skin and imparts a cool feeling to the face. The bits of foil though don’t dissolve that well. Since this is a gel mask, it does not dry out after 15 minutes and I had to wipe it off with a cotton wool.
Last Word on Shahnaz Husain 24 Carat Gold Facial Kit:
Now, coming to the effectiveness of the facial, I don’t think its worth the “huge” hype, though I would not completely run down the product. I did see a bit of a glow which I would attribute also to the massaging process; however, I do agree that getting the massage done by a professional gives better results. I would like to think that even if I were using some other products without the “24-karat gold,” I would still would be able to get the same result. I am kind of shocked that people would spend Rs. 1500 at parlours to get Shahnaz Husain gold facial and also amused that the prices of this particular facial costs and differs so much, it goes anywhere from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1500. The scrub I feel is too mild for exfoliation, but the moisturizing cream, gel, and mask work better. However, I do not see myself either repurchasing this kit nor getting this kind of facial done at a parlour, I am off it.
