Another Clinique review from me, this time, its a body care product – a body scrub in cream form.  Some of Clinique’s products are a hit while others are a miss, this is one of Clinique’s hit products and I will tell you the reasons why. First a short product description.

Product Description:

My Take on Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream:

If you have used The Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish, you would find the “flavour” of this particular exfoliating cream completely “bland” and that’s because this one is 100% fragrance free in terms that there is no added fragrance, but that slightly menthol-medicinal fragrance is still there, and how I wish there was artificial scent like Satsuma or Strawberry instead.  However, in terms of effectiveness, its a different story.  This body scrub comes in a huge tub and the quantity provided is a lot.  I just need two to three spoonfuls for the entire body.  If I were to judge with regards to quantity-quality ratio, the price is completely justified.

I like harsh scrubs for the body, this one is not harsh, its gritty, in a creamy, semi-solid form.  The texture of the granules is gritty and the granules exfoliate the body marvelously.  You know gritty texture for face scrubs would be alarming and harsh, but not for body.  This is the perfect consistency for a body scrub and exfoliates out dead skin to give a smooth and clean finish.  I use this after shower gel and feel great after the exfoliating process.

This exfoliating cream has menthol in it, I do not like menthol at all in skin care products, that was the only con in Clinique Exfoliating Scrub, I was not particularly happy with the cool feeling that it imparted; however, I am perfectly okay (read “happy) with menthol in this body scrub because you know in this hot weather, it gives such a refreshing feeling during and after bath and there’s this feeling of squeaky clean skin.  You know how it feels after you drink water right after you have eaten menthol lozenges such as Halls, that awesome “cool” sensation, well, you get it here with this scrub.  I am tempted to use it with each and every bath to get that feeling 😛

Another ingredient that I saw was salicylic acid, which is awesome for acne-prone skin; however, the ingredient list also contains sodium laureth sulfate (but this one does not lather).

I would say this is a spa-kind of product.  You should definitely give it a try because it does give smooth, clean, exfoliated skin.  I am very happy with this product and its a perfect body scrub in terms of effectiveness.  Do not treat it as a luxury product, its a must-have.

Summing up the pros and cons of this product:

Pros of Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream:

  • A very effective body exfoliating cream that clears out dead skin and rough patches to reveal smooth and clean skin.
  • Gritty texture of the scrub works nicely and would suit even sensitive skin.
  • 100% allergy tested and fragrance free.
  • Contains salicylic acid and menthol (though I am not a fan of menthol in skin care, its a refreshing experience in this hot weather).
  • Quantity provided is good and the quality is great, price is justified.
  • Clears out dry patches.
  • Gives squeaky clean skin.
  • Exfoliates perfectly.

Cons of Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream:

  • I really hope Clinique starts adding artificial pleasant fragrances to these kind of products.
  • Contains SLS.

Would I Repurchase Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream?

Oh yes, particularly in summers, I am tempted to use it every day.
