Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Crème Cup Review

Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Crème Cup: Review, 4 Lipstick, Swatches

I had bought these 4-5 colorbar lipsticks from Saravana stores in Chennai in July I believe. Had been wanting to review them but totally forgot. Nupur’s review on Over the top shade I was reminded of the two I need to review, crème cup and high tea.

I think most of you know about my love for Colorbar velvet matte lipsticks and I may have used over 50 shades from this range itself but now I have a very shocking confession, I don’t like the new formula at all! Since the time they changed their packaging to round from square, the formula has changed as well, the shades which I loved(desire, mocha) have been replaced by others and having used over 50 lipsticks from velvet matte, you can take my word, the formula has really changed.

Why I say that is the formula is not as dense and pigmented as it was earlier and I have been facing a very major problem with a cheap pink stain after the lipsticks lightens or even after one hour of application, these turn into some cheap shocking pink color and after meals they leave lips with a pink stain.

Now you may think perhaps the formula has been changed to become long lasting and the stain is a good thing as it will not look awkward once the lippy fades, lip will still flaunt some color, but im not happy. The formula gets drying too after trying to remove it and it’s a pain to remove the stain from the lips 😐 I want my original velvet matte formula back please! Colorbar are you reading?

The crème cup shades is a lighter version of mocha which I loved, it’s a orangy shade, no shimmer no frost, flat color with soft semi matte look, coral color and totally love the shade, the pigmentation is good the formula smooth but the real tragedy happens after an hour when it starts turning pink and stains and after a meal leaves lip as if you juts had frost bite, dry chapped and pink!

I am really really concerned whether this is kind of chemical reaction is happening to me or may be I have used seen and monitored Colorbar’s progress too closely that I am reading too much into it?one thing is for sure, the formula has changed, it stains and dries lips after removal. Nothing can beat that older version of Colorbar velvet matte. See how dry and stained the lips look after I removed naked pink shade, its happening to all the new shades I got from the velvet matte range. 🙁

The swatches that I show today are just pure stains which are all pink no matter what the lippy shade is (naked pink and crème cup) my lips are never pink that shade, they are quite neutral otherwise. so please see for yourself and still if you are in love with the shades, go ahead, I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Last word:
This was more of a complaint post and wanted to show you 4 swatches and some stains 😀 but honestly, I am so disappointed at the staining formula that I may have to rethink my relationship status with Colorbar, having used over 50 of these and another 50 from the other ranges of Colorbar!

  1. “rethink my relationship status with Colorbar” :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: Good one! Thanks for sharing this Neha! :))

  2. Neha, seriously, Colorbar should not take panga with you and you tried 50 lipsticks from Colorbar itself

  3. My god 😯 how can a brown peachy color leave pink stains? I badly wanted to get colorbar but now :waaa: :waaa: am not so sure :((

  4. oh my gawd…i just love my creme cup and it s my daily lipstick… now if this is the state of the new batch, what will i wear to my hospital;( :waaa: :waaa: :waaa:

  5. Actually Neha, you are absolutely right about the formulation change as well as the stain they cause. I usually hate going to that 1 saravana store so I hadn’t bought these new colorbar ones. I recently saw the brand in health & glow & ended up buying 3 lippies – nude, sultry pink & naked pink. And the last 2 cause the stain, nude is too light to stain my lips. I had to practically scrub my lips with some oil based remover & still the stain wouldn’t go! So i gave up & went to sleep with bright pink lips 😐

  6. :waaa: :waaa: :waaa: :waaa: :waaa: :waaa: :waaa: 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯
    hey girls thnks so much
    these stain A HELL LOT

  7. the stains are really bad! and its true, no matter what colour the lippie is ….it leaves a PINK stain behind! so annoying!!!

  8. I have naked pink and bare..naked pink does leave a stain..I have not used the previous square wala fomula..so dunno…But I loved all 3 shades here..demure, creme cup and over the top !

  9. i have iced tea which is a brown shade, and it was as close to the swatches i saw on net, but it looks more like a pinky shade now , what o do, how does the colour change??? maybe some oxidation on contact with air. just too bad

  10. I am so upset. I bought creme cup yesterday evening and had it on for an hour. It stained so badly that this morning my mom is asking why i went to sleep with a lipgloss on me. I feel like crying :waaa: Should i go to the shop where i bought it or should i write to the company against it? It’s high time we raised our voices against spurious cosmetics. :announce:
