How to Sport Smokey Eyes during Day Time

Hello IMBBians,

I love this place and even when I am not writing for IMBB, I am reading the posts everyday. Today, I am going to give you guys some tips and tricks on how to sport smokey eyes during day time. So, let’s get started!

How to Sport Smokey Eyes during Daytime

Use light and neutral colors

When we hear smokey eyes, black immediately comes to our mind. However, this look can be attempted with a plethora of other colors ranging from blue to orange and purple to green. During daytime, you can create smokey eyes with the help of neutral shades like brown and beige instead of going all black.

Keep your lips nude and understated

Typically, many girls love to pair smokey eyes with matte red or glossy pink hues for disco nights and clubbing. However, during the daytime, it makes more sense to keep your lips understated so that your eyes do all the talking. You can carry your favorite Ruby Woo or Russian Red in your handbag for the night time.

Use white or beige liner on the waterline

Smokey eyes can make small eyes look even smaller! To make them appear bigger and give an illusion of brighter eyes, add some white or beige kohl on your waterline, and you are good to go. Alternatively, you can also apply highlighting eyeshadows on the inner corners of your eyes.

Use a matte chocolate brown color

We all know that eyeliners can make or break your final look. For a subtle day look, apply a soft brown eye shadow or a chocolate brown kohl a little below your waterline and then smudge it. Avoid jet black kohl at all costs. Also, do not apply your eyeliner in a thick manner; try to avoid exaggerated cat eyes too. However, thin wings can look refreshing.

Use a neutral color all over the lid and smoke out the edges

I think this is one of the subtlest ways to wear smokey eyes. Use a neutral eye shadow like Banana from Bobbi Brown or Rice Paper from MAC all over the lid. Now, make a V on the outer corner with a soft black or brown eye shadow and blend inwards. This look is “in” these days and looks super awesome too.

Use a lengthening mascara

Since our lashes can create a lot of drama, it makes sense to keep them subtle during the day and is also necessary while pulling off a look like smokey eyes. Since volumising mascara grabs a lot of attention, replace it with lengthening mascara which will define your eyes better without looking over the top.

Skip the bronzer, choose a blusher

No doubt bronzers add a depth to the face and give color to pale skin tones give bronzers a miss while going heavy on the eyes during the day. Go for earthy and rosy blushes instead. However, if you must use a bronzer, use a matte one for contouring.

Learn to tightline

If you do not own a brown eyeliner in your stash or do not want to use it for some other reasons, give it a miss and instead tightline your upper lash line. It will look a lot less dramatic and will still provide your eyes the definition that they deserve.

Go matte!

This goes without saying, shimmer and frost are a no-no during the day time. You should ideally opt for matte and satiny eyeshadows in powder or crayon form.
