My Take on Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner – Stingray:
Eyeliner or kajal is one of the must have items in my makeup collection. How many of you agree that you can give an instant lift to the eyes just by applying eyeliner and can skip the whole eyeshadow process? My favorite eyeliners are Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Zero and Rimmel scandal eyes waterproof kohl on Black. I have completely used up UD 24/7. My eyes have gotten very sensitive (LASIK treated) and most eyeliners give me a burning sensation. This is one major reason I have a love-hate relationship with Rimmel Scandaleyes – it performs as good as some much-hyped eyeliners in terms of color, pigmentation and staying power, but burnt the crap out of my eyes. So, I decided to replace UD 24/7 with Stila smudge stick after reading awesome reviews on Sephora website.
The product comes in a very sleek and lightweight packaging. The packaging color corresponds to the eyeliner color. Since I got mine in Stingray, it came in a black tube embossed with silver writing. Also, it is a retractable pencil which adds as a plus point in not wasting the product during sharpening.
Color and Pigmentation:
Stingray is described as a jet black matte color. It gives an opaque and rich black coat in just a single swipe.
This product has an amazing formulation. It is very soft, creamy and glides on smoothly without being harsh on the sensitive eye area.
This product stayed on without budging and giving raccoon eyes for a very long time (I got lazy and slept with makeup on and this was still good the next day in the morning). I am pretty sure it is as long lasting on oily lids and watery eyes too. Also, it keeps the eyeliner looking smooth and doesn’t seem to appear dry and flake off throughout the day.
Definitely yes. Look at the pics for the proof: P
Since it is long lasting and waterproof on eyes, it gets a little difficult to remove it at the end of the day, but a good makeup remover can do wonders. It is safe for sensitive eyes and did not give me irritation or burning sensation which is a big yay for me.
Pros of Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner – Stingray:
- Sleek packaging.
- Waterproof and long lasting.
- Highly pigmented and glides on very smoothly.
- Can be used on upper and lower lash lines.
- Amazing color range.
- Works great for sensitive eyes.
- Retractable pencil.
Cons of Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner – Stingray:
- Since its bullet proof, you need to use a strong makeup remover to wipe off the eyeliner.
- Need to be extra cautious while retracting the product. Make sure to get the sufficient product or else you can end up squishing the product with the cap. As Karpagam said in her post “Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner –Tetra, even I couldn’t make the product to go back by turning it in the opposite direction. Looks like this is a problem with all their eyeliners.”
Overall, I love this product and will definitely try the other shades.
