I think shimmery body lotions are just perfect for summer—they’re a lot of fun to wear with cute little sundresses, miniskirts, halter tops, and maybe even with swimsuits while at the beach. Victoria’s Secret Secret Charm Shimmer Lotion contains golden shimmers that I imagine would really pop out on very tanned skin, though on my medium yellow skin tone I think it looks quite nice too.

Victoria’s Secret Secret Charm Shimmer Lotion
A shimmering fragrance fantasy. Sparkle in golden glimmer and lasting Secret Charm scent, a captivating blend of Honeysuckle, Gala Apple, and Stephanotis. Moisture-rich lotion conditions with nourishing Aloe, Oat, and Grapeseed Extracts, plus anti-oxidant Vitamins C and E. Smooth on shoulders, legs, and décolleté for a sensual, luminous glow.
I like that the product is housed in a handy tube and I think the cute silver stars and dots make the blue tube adorably girly. The shiny golden cap snaps on and off very easily and doesn’t let any product spill. This tube is 150ml or 5 fl oz which I think should last anyone some time if applied occasionally on certain areas of the body they’d like to highlight, like the shoulders or legs.
The lotion does not feel thick but has a light texture that makes it easy to spread. While spreading the product it can feel a bit gritty because of the shimmers, though this doesn’t bother me since I don’t find it abrasive or rough on my skin. It feels quite moisturizing too, with a hint of an oily feel right after application that goes away within a minute or two. My skin stays feeling moisturized for most of the day after applying this.
The golden shimmers are more like small glitters. They’re not craft store huge, but they’re not micro sized either. I’d say they’re medium-sized glitters, and the overall effect is subtle enough that you don’t have to be afraid of looking like a human disco ball if you use this lotion. I really like the subtly sexy effect of the golden glitters on my skin, and I should have used this earlier when I started wearing shorts a few weeks ago. I had a hard time capturing this effect with my simple camera though, sorry if it’s blurry:
The scent of Secret Charm also quite subtle. Definitely a summer scent, it’s light and refreshing, with just a slight hint of floral sweetness. I definitely smell the honeysuckle, nothing heavy but a sort of clean honeysuckle scent. Mixed with the apple, the scent becomes rather fresh and feminine. The other note, Stephanotis, is a flowering, climbing plant, and its white, fragrant, star-shaped flowers are often used in wedding bouquets. I don’t know what it smells like, but when I sniff the lotion there’s also something in there that reminds me of tea, whose smell I enjoy. I really like the light, clean floral scent of the Victoria’s Secret Secret Charm Shimmer Lotion.
Unfortunately, the scent fades off very quickly, within the hour it is gone completely. The golden glitters adhere to the skin pretty well though, and stick around for hours, even through sweating.
This is a fun product for summer and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a lightly scented body lotion that nicely complements an outfit that shows a bit of skin. The Shimmering Lotion is a holiday limited edition product and is no longer on the Victoria’s Secret website, though the Secret Charm scent is available in other bath and body products. A quick search on Amazon reveals a listing for the Shimmering Lotion for as low as $5.99.
