After seeing good reviews about these Colorbar Velvet matte lipsticks, I thought I should get at least one 😛 and “Over the Top 1” is my first Colorbar lipstick and I find it pretty decent for the price I paid for it. Read on, to know more about the lipstick.
For a rich lip colour with a creamy shine, the Velvett Matte Lipstick, available in 45 stunning shades infuse the lips with vibrancy. Its unique 2-in-1 formulation gives the lips a creamy, yet matte finish. A one of a kind product in India, it has super softening agents that give the lips a soft and supple appearance while keep them nourished with Vitamin E. Staying on up to 5 hours on application, the Velvett Matte Lipstick can be further accentuated with lip gloss and lip liner.
INR 225 for 4.2 gm.
Some of them have been already reviewed here:
I picked up the shade “Over the Top 1” on a friend’s recommendation and I liked Naked Pink shade at the counter, so I bought both.
The lipstick comes in a simple, plastic, light weight casing with steel like finish and plastic cap. The packaging is very standard and nothing very fancy, which is fine since these are not very expensive lipsticks. The lipstick has coloured end (just like NYX round lipsticks) and thus you can identify these easily in your stash(incase you own loads of them 😛 )
About the shade Over the top 1:
While I do avoid anything that goes over the top in makeup, I couldn’t resist picking up this shade 😀 It’s a coral reddish pink which shows slight orange tone in it when I swatch it. On my lips, it comes out as a pretty pink (slightly bright). I like the shade and I think this would suit most skin tones.
It is the kind of shade which can immediately brighten up the face, so mostly I prefer to wear it during the evenings. If I have to wear it during the day, I would apply very lightly and then fade/rub it with my fingers, so that it gives a tint like effect and not complete coverage.
Also, “Over the Top 1” is not a unique shade for a lipstick and you can easily find its dupes in other range of lipsticks as well. This range of lipsticks from Colorbar is available in a large number of shades and gladly, I found that most of them have been made keeping in mind the skin tone of Indian beauties.
Pigmentation and Texture:
The lipstick is soft, smooth and creamy, glides/applies easily on the lips. The texture is definitely nice but not something as great as lipsticks coming from high-end brands, I mean it is soft but not superbly, buttery, melting-on-the lips kind of soft . The lipstick never dries out my lips, but at the same time, I can’t say it is very moisturising either. I don’t see it settling in/accentuating the lines of my lips. The pigmentation is quite strong too and I don’t need more than a single layer of this lipstick on my lips as it gives full coverage. The finish is semi-matte I would say, not complete matte, since these are creamy, so this won’t just sit flat on your lips. There is no obvious shimmer or glitter at all in this too. So both, the pigmentation, texture are fine enough and I would definitely consider it as a good lipstick. I however do not like its fragrance and taste. I really cannot identify, but it is not something I liked.
The staying power of the lipstick is quite impressive. It stays on my lips easily for 4-5 hours. Even after meals and drinks, there is a good amount of colour/tint on my lips. Just when I was writing this review and taking pictures, I applied it and went off to sleep after some time. I woke up after 4 hours and found it was quite there on my lips. The good staying power definitely makes this lipstick worth the price.
What I Like about Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Over The Top 1:
- Soft, smooth texture.
- Glides/applies easily.
- Does not bleed or settle in lines/cracks of the lips.
- Does not dry out the lips.
- Great staying power
- Colorbar Velvet Matte lipsticks are available in a large number of shades.
- Fairly priced.
What I Did Not Like about Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Over The Top 1:
- The packaging could have been better.
- Availability is an issue with Colorbar products.
- I didn’t like the fragrance/taste
- Does not mention ingredients list.
Overall, these are decent lipsticks and at the price you get them, these are definitely good value for money/budget lipsticks that won’t disappoint you.
Would I Recommend Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Over The Top 1?
I would recommend them and won’t mind picking up another shade. Also, I saw at the Colorbar counter some new full coverage, long lasting kinds, sleek stick lipsticks, which looked really good. I think I will pick up one of that next.
