My recommendation and review.
Available at Boots.
2 for 2 pounds (roughly 150 rupees).
Don’t these remind you of Nivea ones ? :stars:
Now, considering I don’t a have a local Superdrug, I have to pay a visit to the local Boots every other day and spend some couple of pounds and come back. Anyday, you can’t beat the necessity of having Lip Salve as back up and though I don’t have horribly dry lips, sometimes I may use some underneath my lipstick or just alone for shiny healthy lips because no one can stand the sight of dry and cracked lips :yikes:
I never have those kind of lips unless I am out in severe cold, which here I am not as its very warm indoors, but some cold air can have its toll. So, I decided to pick these up as the one from Avon that I got along from India is errr, if I may say so, getting too boring . Variety is the spice of life and getting these essentials can not be too harmful, can it?
Also, these can be a major necessity when I wear a lipstick day in and day out. The continuous wear and tear can be repaired at night by smearing on some lip salve before bed juts as you ould apply some night cream and under eye cream before bed.
Balm or Salve?
Lip balm or lip salve is a waxy substance applied topically to the lips of the mouth to relieve chapped or dry lips. This is what the wiki has to say about it. I happened to see some Burt’s Bees too, but they were 4 pounds each :stars: and I didn’t wanna be so lavish as well. Now, they also had the original “chap stick,” which had a very drab and boring packaging of some black and blue plastic . The only tempting offer was these thick Boots ones, which looked so pretty on the shelf.
Coming on to the salve, Boots offers four variants in my opinion including the spearmint and original one. I could not locate the spearmint one and I am least interested in the original one, so I got a strawberry and tinted one though I with these were swapped as in the tint was more strawberry . Now here the strawberry one is plan white with the odour of fresh raw strawberries and applies thick but not at all waxy. After application you would just feel a protective layer on lips and not at all a waxy film or anything. Its ideal for wear under lipstick and smells fresh. I don’t wanna comment on the lasting power as I am least bothered about that considering I wear it at night and wake up with softer lips all ready to apply some gorgeous lipstick
The tinted one is a very light milky pink tint, which may not show up on lighter lips. It goes on like some light pink lipstick and so light in texture. I love to apply this under lipstick don’t know why, maybe because of the beautiful pink it gives underneath. I have never had a tinted lip salve this color and shade though I may have used numerous darker ones. This one is a pretty light babyish pink and is very light. This one doesn’t smell of anything at all.
Needless to say, these do a great job at moisturising lips. None of these are overtly shiny, but apply very thin and light, the way I like it , and not at all waxy . I reckon, you buy the tinted one if you may, as the strawberry one is plain old colourless one. The tinted one is something different! Its everything and more I need from a lip salve, (balm salve call what you may please), I wish they had some other tinted ones too :dumb: greedy me.
(wish they had more variants) .
