Today, I am going to review Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer. I have heard a lot about this company’s lip balms and wanted to try the same, so I had asked my friend to pick up a few of them when she was returning back to India. She got me a couple of honey lip balms and one of these lip shimmers. Let’s take a detailed review of the same:
Product Being Reviewed:
Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer (Cocoa).
We added a kiss of color and pearlized shine to our world famous lip balm. They’re made from natural ingredients like vitamin E, coconut and sunflower oils to moisturize and highlight your lips. They come now in eleven yummy shades. Perfect for everyone, except the indecisive. 100% natural ingredients.
Sunflower Oil, Castor Oil, Beeswax, Candelilla Wax, Lanolin, Cocoa Butter, Tocopheryl Acetate & Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Peppermint Oil, Carnauba Wax, Comfrey Root Extract, Rosemary Extract, May Contain: Iron Oxide, Mica, Carmine, Titanium Dioxide.
$4.99. It comes in the usual yellow-coloured Burt’s Bees trademark packaging. It is a twist-up packaging wherin you twist the lid and the lip balm rises from the surface. I personally love this packaging as I find it the most hygienic compared to the tub packaging of my favourite Lotus Lip balms.
My Take on Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in shade Cocoa:
Well, I would start my experience by saying I didn’t like it much! With all the hype created towards this brand, I expected an utterly moisturising lip balm, but this balm failed on that part. It is a brownish-coloured lip tint which glides smoothly on the lips, one swipe and you feel exactly the same cooling sensation which you feel after eating minto, the cooling sensation was quite bothersome for me as it remained strong for 40-45 minutes after which it did not go completely but subsided a bit.
The staying power is around 3-4 hours with meals included which is quite decent for a lip balm. The brownish colour also remains till the end and it leaves a faded tint of brown colour. It gives a semi-matte finish to the lips. I tried this for around 7 days and did not notice any evident change in the lips as in they did not feel moisturised as much as they should have. Though the product mentions the name as lip shimmer, but there is not even an iota of shimmer in it.
Summarising the pros and cons:
Pros of Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in shade Cocoa:
- Cute, small, and hygienic twist packaging.
- Not tested on animals.
- Ingredients list has many natural ingredients listed.
- Staying power is good.
- Available in many shades.
Cons of Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in shade Cocoa:
- Not worth the hype created for Burt’s Bees lip balms.
- Did not moisturise my lips.
- The cooling sensation is overpowering. I would like the lip balm to work like a lip balm and not as mouth (lip) freshener.
- Not available in India
Will I Repurchase Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in shade Cocoa?
No, I will not.
