Garnier Mineral Deodorant (Women) Review

Garnier Mineral Deodorant (Women) Review

Garnier launched their mineral range of deodorants this summer for men and women. They claim that the deodorants contain mineralite, an ultra absorbing mineral of volcanic origin, which provides protection up to 48 hours. The men’s version was endorsed by Bollywood actor John Abraham. The women’s deodorants; however, haven’t been that aggressively marketed. Here, we review the two variants of the women’s range – Extra Care and Absolute Dry.

Garnier Mineral Deodarant

Name of the Product:

Garnier Mineral Deodorant (Absolute Dry/Extra Care).

Cost:

Rs. 150 for each

Shelf Life:

3 years.

Product Claim:

• Enriched with revolutionary Mineralite.
• Incredible humidity absorption capacity.
• Continuously absorbs humidity from first contact without blocking pores.
• 48 hour non stop protection – fresh and dry for 48 hours.
• Lets skin breathe.
• Skin stays dry and smooth.
• 0% Alcohol.
• Dermatologically tested.
• 5 times the absorbing power of talc.
• Absolute Dry provides ultimate protection for 48 hours.
• Extra Care soothes underarms sensitized by waxing or shaving.

My Review of Garnier Mineral Deodorants:

The deodorant cans are attractive and have a feminine appearance with a white background and green print and Absolute Dry written in pink while Extra Care is in purple.

It has a green cap with a simple spray button, which is a little hard to press initially. It eases up eventually.

The directions for use and product claim are mentioned clearly on the back of the can.

The fragrances are different for both – POWDER FRESH for the Absolute Dry variant and FLORAL FRESH for the Extra Care variant. Absolute Dry also lists talc among its ingredients. It didn’t smell too much like powder, though the fragrance was pleasant. Extra Care, on the other hand, does smell like flowers.

The revolutionary ingredient, Minerlite (Perlite) is an ultra absorbent mineral from volcanic origin that naturally and continuously absorbs humidity due to its porous structure.

Directions for use are to dry underarms carefully after a shower or bath. Shake well and spray at a distance of 15 cm from underarms.

Both the deodorants last for a whole day. I cannot vouch for 48-hour protection since I didn’t subject myself to such an extreme situation. Immediately on spraying, both deodorants give a slight tingling sensation for a few seconds, which disappears instantly. The Extra Care variant is, as it says, soothing on shaved skin and does not cause any irritation. No residue is seen on skin or clothes and the fresh feeling lasts throughout the day. The fragrance dies down a little towards the end of the day, so I’m not sure it would actually withstand 48 hours.

Pros of Garnier Mineral Deodorant

1. Reasonably priced.
2. Attractive packaging, travel friendly.
3. Easily available.
4. Long Shelf Life.
5. Prevents sweating the whole day.
6. Keeps skin fresh and dry.
7. No irritation seen on skin.
8. Pleasant fragrance for both variants.
9. Extra care soothing on shaved skin.
10. Fresh feeling lasts throughout the day.
11. 0% alcohol.
12. Residue-free.

Cons of Garnier Mineral Deodorant

1. Fragrance doesn’t seem like it can last beyond a day.
2. Not sure if the claim of 48 hours is valid.

Verdict:
Overall, a very reliable product, especially in extreme Indian summers and humid monsoons, using this deodorant is a life saver. Its main claims – long lasting and fresh feeling while being easy on the skin – are all true. Mineralite does its job!

Would I Buy it Again:

Yes, of course!!

Rating: 4/5.

  1. I use the Extra care one for college and its pretty nice actually . One thing I like about it is that it has a very faint smell which does not hinder with my body lotion’s smell

    1. I like the smell a lot too, I actually bought the Absolute Dry first and then saw the other one and got that too. I prefer the fragrance of Extra Care, will be sticking to that one 😉
