Garnier Pure Exfoliating face wash
This is my first post on IMBB. I have been passively contributing to the blog by reading up and leaving comments for months now. At last I managed to sit down and pen my thoughts to paper or type my thoughts into a Word file đ for this entry.

I have tried to be as objective as possible in my first review and refrained from unclear statements which may not add any value to the readerâs decision. Comments or areas of improvement are welcome.
They say normal skin is what no woman will admit she has!!
Me neither, though my skin behaves usually!

I have combination skin. My T Zone is shiny in an hour after washing my face living in a city that has humid, sultry weather. In fact a friend once told me the first thing he noticed about me was my âshiny noseâ.
Thanks to my genes, even as a teenager with an extra oily T zone, acne has never been a concern except the occasional break out. A home HG remedy which worked then and still works is chandan paste. I am in my 20s now and my T zone secretes more oil than ever for God only knows what purpose!
I have to battle other oily or combination skin related issues like white and black heads, open or clogged pores and not to mention accumulation of dead skin cells. But they say people with oily skin type show signs of ageing later than people with other skin types, if thatâs true then itâs not so bad after all âș âș âș
I always wash my face before going to sleep. I have recently started using a night moisturizer cream – a tiny drop and strictly not more. I hadnât earlier for fear of a break out.
I tried Garnier Pure Exfoliating face wash for relief from the conditions above – white and black heads, accumulation of dead cells on and around the T zone.
What Garnier Pure Exfoliating face wash promises –
- Exfoliant face wash
- unclogs pores,
- exfoliates skin surface.
Garnier pure exfoliating face wash is right for you if you have combination to oily skin and want a daily face wash that removes excess oil and blackheads and prevents them from re-appearing.
- Its unique formula blends an alcohol free gel with active ingredients –
- Micro-particles exfoliate the dead skin cells.
- A deep cleansing agent to purify pores and prevent imperfections.
And what it contains –
A brief list of the dominant ingredients –
Aqua/Water, Coco-betaine, Butylene glycol. Polyethylene, Sodium laureth sulphate, Sodium chloride, Disodium cocoamphodiacetate, Salicylid acid, Zinc gluconate, Eucalyptus globulus, eucalyptus globulus leaf extractâŠ
The exhaustive list of ingredients is available on the tube the product comes packaged in.
Here is a swatch of the product on the back of my hand.
In the image below I have collected some of the product in a small cap to show you the color which is not clear in the picture above –
And what I feel –
I have been using this face wash since the end of November last and almost finished the 75ml pack I bought. It comes in a tube with an easy to flip open with one hand only cap. Can be carried safely in your bag rest assured it will not leak all over the documents and make up you may carry.
A small amount of the product is sufficient to produce enough foam. The face wash is an almost transparent gel with nice blue colored beads in it.
I guess SLES is responsible for producing the lather.
(Please leave a comment if you have more information on this) this certainly has SLES then.
I have used it to wash my face after a day in the outdoors and found it to effectively clean dirt and grime off my oily skin.
This way it prevents a break out in comparison to letâs say Dove soap.
I have noticed that Dove soap is too creamy for my face. Given my skin type and weather conditions I live in, it doesnât feel clean after washing my face with Dove soap and appears oilier than it did before the wash.
And the exfoliation part – I didnât see a noteworthy change in the presence or disappearance (now, forget re- appearance!!!) of dead skin cells or black heads.
And yet Garnier pure exfoliating face wash contains salicylic acid – a skin exfoliate agent. From the list of ingredients I see salicylic acid is perhaps not present in higher concentrations in an OTC cosmetic and hence not effective on meâŠ
I may need a visit to the parlor to get the black heads and dead skin cells removed.
So Garnier pure exfoliating face wash is another face wash for regular use for me.
What I liked about Garnier Pure Exfoliating Face Wash
- A small amount of the product produces enough lather for one use. This way it lasts long.
- Effective cleanser on me, comparatively.
- Affordable.
- The packaging – itâs easy to carry in your bag
What I didnât like about Garnier Pure Exfoliating Face Wash
- Not effective in removing black heads, dead skin cells on and around the T zone.
- Garnier – I believe animal tests their products because they are a part of the LâOreal umbrella of cosmetics/ personal care products
Will I Buy it again – donât think so, there are more socially responsible companies like Himalaya that offer equally good regular face wash.
I would give this :-* :-* + 1/2
