L’Oreal Professionnel Constructor Techni Art Heat Protectant

Hello Friends,

Today, I am going to review the L’Oreal Professionnel Constructor Techni Art Force 3 (phew!! that’s quite a mouthful).  I bought the much-coveted BabyLiss Big Hair rotating hair styler and then rushed to get a heat protecting spray/serum.  I never blow dried my hair before and had not used any styling product either. I asked the stylist at the salon for advice and he opined that since my hair was already so straight, I would do much better with a holding spray than a serum for protection. You see, I have hair like noodles, straight till the tips and I just wanted the inward flip that looks perfect with my inverted A-bob. Without any product, I brush it inward and after half an hour, it’s straight again.  On the scale of 1 to 6, I chose the midway and got FORCE 3.

L’Oreal Professionnel Constructor Techni Art

Product Description:

HOT system (Heat Optimizing Technologies). Thermo-active for protection, volume and texture.

Price:

Rs. 550

Packaging:

Steel spray bottle with a spay nozzle and a plastic cap. It’s sturdy enough for travel purpose.

Transparent runny liquid.

thermal protectant

Ingredients:

Has everything you don’t want in a product.  Alcohol, silicone, wax, you name it and it is there in the list 😛

Instructions:

Spray on damp or dried hair, then work with fingers under heat of dryer to create texture.

My Take on L’Oreal Professionnel Constructor Techni Art Heat Protectant:

I sprayed it on 98% dry hair (I don’t want to be blow drying wet hair for fear of damage), styled using Big Hair and even after a whole day of heat and humidity, the style stayed put though the volume wasn’t as much as during the first hour.  Even for the next 2 days, the style stayed put, but the volume kept reducing (read hair got weighed down), but didn’t look greasy.  Around 5- 6 spritz are enough for chin-length hair. Go overboard and you will have flyaways.

Heat Protectant

Use less and predictably less volume and hold will ensue. I don’t spray it on my scalp. I section my hair and spray each section before styling. With my Big Hair, it just takes 2 minutes (Maggie noodle kind of timing ;p) to style my hair. My biggest disappointment is that it doesn’t give ANY shine. You know, if you have fine, straight hair like mine, you take shine for granted and run after volume. But after this product, the shine is not dramatic and I miss it!

Styled with product and dryer.

Hair 1

Styled with hair brush and no product.

Hair 2

As you can see, the volume is amazing with the product. No enhancement in shine though. It has more shine without product. One last word of caution. Don’t expect it to add volume if you don’t intend to heat style.  Your hair will feel like wilted straw (guilty, but you can’t blame one for trying :p)

Pros of L’Oreal Professionnel Constructor Techni Art Heat Protectant:

  • Good heat protection.
  • Good volume.
  • Texture has hold as well as movement. Your hair will sway in the wind beautifully and then will fall right back with a little finger combing (yay!!)
  • Doesn’t weigh fine hair down, well at least not for a day or two.
  • Have choice for adding more hold in the range of products.

Cons of L’Oreal Professionnel Constructor Techni Art Heat Protectant:

  • Those harmful chemicals in the ingredient list!
  • No shine, I miss it.  The product doesn’t promise any shine but should leave my glossy hair the same. It doesn’t make hair dull, but well..
  • Never air dry it 😛
  • The hold is not meant for elaborate styles, more of an open-hair-with-waves-or-flicks. You can get a spray with more hold for that.
  • The volume starts to falter after a few hours, it’s still there but not in the “whoa” category.

IMBB Rating:

3.75

Would I Recommend L’Oreal Professionnel Constructor Techni Art?

Yes, if you have mid length hair or if you straighten using blow dryer and brush. This is not for ironing or holding elaborate styles.
