Boots Natural Collection Vanilla Body Lotion

This is the review of the Vanilla Body Lotion from the Natural Collection by Boots. It is a famous drug store level foreign (UK) brand.

Boots Natural Collection Vanilla Body Lotion

Moisturisers are an essential part of everyone’s beauty regimen, but most of us tend to do it for just our face and forget our body. While the rest of our body stays protected from the sun and such due to clothing, our arms and legs are particularly prone to getting dried up. The hands probably top the charts because of the frequent washing and harsh handling. This is where the role of a good body lotion comes in. A lotion that you can use all over your body right after your shower, preferably before stepping out of it.

vanilla

I got this as a part of a gift pack that also contained a shower creme, a vanilla body spray and a loofah that all came packed in a big rectangular and very functional toilet bag that my sister bought from London for me. Its availability in India is doubtful as their site does not even mention India in its country list, but I am sure it is easily obtainable through ebay.

The moisturiser comes in a big, fat, plastic tube containing 200 ml of the lotion. It is priced at £3.00. It is transparent with a brown flip cap, and is sturdy enough to be kept upright on your dressing table. It looks decent enough if not pretty. The lotion itself is visible as a creamy thick lotion.

The back of the bottle reads:  Silk wrap your body! This light lotion is blended with natural calming vanilla to help leave skin smooth, conditioned, and noticeably softer.

Directions For Use:

Massage into the skin after showering or bathing.  Avoid contact with eyes.  If product gets into the eyes, rinse well with water immediately.  Keep out of reach of children.  This is not a food.

The first thing you notice on opening the tube is obviously the fragrance. It is a moderately strong, sweet vanilla fragrance that isn’t too overpowering, but definitely noticeable. It is not exactly the kind of fragrance that will make you think of vanilla ice cream and cupcakes, but is kind of floral, sugar vanilla type.  It does not smell very natural, this is the kind of fragrance a child or a teenager would probably enjoy. A grown woman like myself would love to smell of vanilla too, but in a subtle, warm, sugar free, maybe slightly bitter, and earthy sort of way, but then again, that’s a personal choice.

The texture of the lotion is creamy and thick and doesn’t feel like it would spill out or get messy; however, the complete dollop of lotion slips off your skin if you tilt 😀 It spreads very easily and is quickly absorbed to give a light, non-greasy comforting moisturisation. It is not something you could use to overcome dryness, it is something you could use to prevent it. But you would need generous amounts of the product for that. The amount shown in the picture is just about enough to moisturise my hands (and I have small hands).  Using the body lotion for your entire body would need quite some amount.  A person doing so every day after their bath would probably need 3-4 months to finish the tube. A couple of hours after moisturisation, the fragrance is highly faded and so is the moisture.

Swatch

This is a make-do kind of product. Someone who requires light moisturisation with a pleasant fragrance at an affordable price should probably go for it. Its got nothing that I would vouch for, neither is it a disaster, but it leaves much scope for improvement.

Pros of Boots Natural Collection Vanilla Body Lotion:

  • Vanilla fragrance.
  • Affordable.
  • Provides light moisturisation.

Cons of Boots Natural Collection Vanilla Body Lotion:

  • There is much scope for improvement, no cons as such, except subjective dislikes for the sweet fragrance and the not-so-efficient moisturisation for my dry skin.

IMBB Rating:

I would give it 2.5/5 for being an average product.

Would I Buy Boots Natural Collection Vanilla Body Lotion Again?

Nope, I would have preferred it if I had got something else instead of this in the first place? yes!

  1. i love Vanilla and wud most likely to get tempted with a Vanilla fragrnace versus any other fragance. wish it did work a little better for you though. 🙁 you think perhaps layering the scents would have a bigger impact?

    1. HI aru, i tried u know, i used the shower creme, then the lotion, n sprayed the body spray on top. Yes it did hav a big impact, but not in a very pleasant way, if you know what i mean 😛 🙂

  2. I love vanilla fragrance generally but only a hint of it but if it is too over powering of a scent then it makes me shudder! 😐
