Cotaryl Skin Cream

Cotaryl Skin Cream

What the Company Claims About The Product:
During the seventies, FDC pioneered the launch of a scientifically designed cold cream with Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs) for various dry skin conditions. For decades now, Cotaryl has been widely prescribed by dermatologists across the country, a feat now imitated by a number of OTC brands. Cotaryl continues to enjoy a respectable position in the prescription market.

Hyperkeratotic skin

Indication:

Dry & hyperkeratotic skin, cracked feet, ichthyosis especially ichthyosis vulgaris & sex-linked ichthyosis, as an adjunct therapy in atopic eczema, tylosis.

Ingredients list

Packaging:
The cream comes in a small, simple, round, white-coloured plastic jar with green cap. The packaging is not as fancy as our normal creams from drugstore brands, but since the cream inside it is super duper, uber effective, I don’t even bother about the packaging part.

Price and Quantity:
INR 50 for 50 gm.

My Verdict on Cotaryl Skin Cream:

This particular cream was recommended by a dermatologist around 3-4 years back and since then it has been a staple for me. Back then, I got horribly dry, cracked heels on which nothing much was working effectively, but this cream indeed is miraculous. I clearly remember it repaired my cracked heels within 6-8 days of using it. In fact, it is “THE CREAM” with which you can see overnight results. No matter how many foot creams I have tried/used and stock, but I always get back to this when I feel my feet get in a bad dry state and I need to repair them soonest. In winters especially, my feet, hands, elbows get awfully/exceptionally rough, dry and all I can trust is this cream.

The consistency of the cream is thick and takes time to absorb completely in the skin. It also leaves a whitish cast behind. The fragrance of the cream is not something I really enjoy, but still it is bearable. It’s a jar-type packaging, so I need to scoop out the product with fingers, I wish it came in a tube form.

Despite these shortcomings, I believe nothing can replace this cream off my dresser. It is my HG repair-cum-rescue-cum-overnight treatment cream. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for quick relief from cracked heels and dry skin (body skin).  I have never used it on my face, so I cannot suggest if you should use it on your facial skin.

Listing its pros and cons below.

Pros of Cotaryl Skin Cream

• IT WORKS, makes skin super soft.
• Highly effective skin cream for dry skin ( I would recommend it for body skin only and not facial skin).
• Shows results overnight.
• Great value for money, one jar costs around INR 50.
• Easily available across chemist shops.

Cons of Cotaryl Skin Cream

• Thick consistency which takes time and effort to dissolve in completely.
• Leaves a whitish cast.
• It makes my feet inside my footwear little slippery, so I prefer to use it at night only
• Jar type packaging.

I am trying to find where i can purchase some Cotaryl cream for my husband, as we were given it in India for my husbands hands and its the only thing that works!!! but he has run out….the cream is excellent, he works in construction so his hands & feet get in awful condition.

This cream is really a wonder, I used to have a cracked feet for a quite long time, it’s kind of hereditary too, as, my father too suffers from a cracked feet, but, when I saw my aunt using it I got curious and asked her about it and she recommended it to me, after using which I got wonderful results. I absolutely have no problem with the fragrance as it is far better than crack cream’s fragrance at least. I also have no problem with it leaving a white cast, as, it is my cracked heels and not my face so who’s gonna see? and as far as it being slippery is concerned, I mean who cares? I apply it at n8 before sleep as it os the best time to put on any cream, as at n8 time any cream if applied works the best. So, hats off to the chemist who composed it, he really did a good job!!
