The Body Shop Chocomania Shower Cream Review

I have been eyeing the “Chocomania” range from The Body Shop since it was launched in February.  Just a week ago, I went into TBS after a long time and the SA was quite friendly and asked me whether I wanted a demo on the “Chocomania” range.  She used the shower cream, scrub and lotion on my hands and since I am also a chocoholic just like most other people, I wanted to give it a try. Since I wanted to buy only one product, I bought the shower cream.  The scrub was also fantastic and best used on dry skin. I bought the shower cream since I love to try out different shower products.

A Chocoholic’s Experience with The Body Shop Chocomania Shower Cream:

The only chocolate product I have used so far is the chocolate hair mask from Montagne Jeunesse.  I actually couldn’t find any other chocolate skin care product so far.  Since I saw this launched for Valentine’s Day, I had an eye on it, they even had a nice gift pack as well. The product has a warm chocolaty fragrance. This shower cream looks like chocolate sauce and lathers well, so only a small amount is needed each time. This does not dry skin at all, since it is soap free.  On the other hand, it actually moisturises the skin a little bit.

A shower using this shower cream will definitely leave you feeling indulgent and craving for more chocolate. I hope to do this one day, use the chocolate face mask on my face, the MJ chocolate hair mask, and then have a shower using this cream.  After I have a shower, my whole bathroom smells like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Skin is left smooth and soft; however, the fragrance does not linger on skin for too long, maximum an hour. However, if you use the scrub and lotion/body butter for layering, the smell will be long lasting.

At the demo, the SA used all these on my hands and the fragrance lasted for more than 3-4 hours. However, depending on the situation, this can be a pro or a con.  Smelling like a chocolate cake is not apt for all situations, so this subtle fragrance is also good in a way.

Pros of The Body Shop Chocomania Shower Cream:

  • Contains moisture boosting ingredients such as cocoa butter and honey.
  • Lathers well but does not dry out the skin.
  • Has a nice chocolate fragrance.
  • Leaves skin soft and moisturised.
  • Priced reasonable when compared to the lotion and scrub from the same range.

Cons of The Body Shop Chocomania Shower Cream:

  • The fragrance is not long lasting.

Actually, I cannot think of any other negatives however much I think. I can’t complain about the price, since this is decently priced compared to other shower creams from the same brand. I haven’t used many TBS shower products, but this one is a keeper for me.
