My 7-Year Experience with Ciba Vision FreshLook ColorBlends Brown Contact Lens:

I have been trying out color lens right from college for farewell parties to weddings at home and for sometimes for mall hopping too. I love natural-looking color lens and I have done my fair share of blunders too, but now, I am wiser and I wear colors suited to Indian skin tone and the regular makeup that we do everyday to complement our eyes.

I have tried silk lens too, but I found them horrible and drying and not so natural looking.  Hence, I moved on to FreshLook in 2007 and I have never looked back.

The shades available in the lens I am talking about today are:

  • Turquoise.
  • Blue.
  • Green.
  • Honey.
  • Brown.
  • Grey.
  • Pure Hazel.
  • True Sapphire.
  • Amethyst

Later, the company introduced bolder-looking colors in Sterling Grey, Brilliant Blue, Gemstone Green, which are best suited to whiter skin, trust me, but the good news is that there are many many colors in FreshLook ColorBlends, which look beautiful on Indian skin tone.  I believe these are also available in power lens, so please try them for sure.

The shades I have tried and I am currently using are:

  • Brown.
  • Pure Hazel.
  • Grey.
  • Green.
  • Honey.

Let me tell you, I bought most of them for trial purpose, but never ventured into the blue category honestly.  Now, my favourite one is Pure Hazel, which is a green plus yellow plus brown and looks just perfect for my skin tone.  The honey one is more of an orange-brown, Grey is more of yellow-plus-grey-plus-green, and Green is a muted green very much like Pure Hazel but lesser yellow.

I love all of the shades I have tried, remember these are monthly disposable and must be used just 30 times and its best to keep track of how much you use them for maximum oxygen permeability for your eyes.  I have never had a problem with these lenses and these are very soft and comfortable to the limit of “not wearing a lens feel” that they give.

Tips From My Personal Experience with Contact Lenses:

  • Its not at all difficult to insert a lens if its absolutely clean of dust particles.
  • Always use fresh solution for storing and rinsing your lens.
  • Always wash hands and keep them lint free before handling lens.
  • As an option, I keep hand sanitizers in the car and near dressing mirrors if I don’t want to wash hands and dry them when pressed for time.  Himalaya hand sanitizer clearly mentions usage for lens handling.
  • Wear them for 7 to 8 hours maximum and remove them as soon as you come home.
  • Always travel with your lens case along for any emergencies.
  • Always carry a tiny solution bottle for travel.
  • Wash, rinse and dry your lens case, although its best to replace the lens case once a month like I do.  You can easily get new lens case for less than 50 rupees at any eye care practitioner/ shop.
  • Try using eye drop for moistening eyes meant for lens wearers.

These are really comfortable, monthly disposable color lens that are available in various shades that suit Indian skin like Brown, Pure Hazel, and Green.  I will be reviewing all the shades I own very soon.:)

  8. this post came at the right time neha! my yearly quota is getting over and I was planning to buy new lenses and I always wanted to try colored ones..m happy to hear that colored can be worn everyday as when I checked with my optician he mentioned that wearing colored lenses everyday can cause problems for the eyes so I didnt opt for it at that time..now m definitely getting one!
