Deborah Milano 24 Ore Eye Pencil Shade 251 Black
I have long been a silent spectator in IMBB world, as my laziness prevented me from picking up my cam and my stuff and getting 2-3 nice pics for a review, but finally, the temptation to contribute something in my favourite blog overcame and here it is.This is my first product review. Hope you all like it and find it helpful.
Product Being Reviewed:
Deborah Milano 24 Ore Eye Pencil in Shade 251[Black].
The one I am reviewing is a solid black color shade 251.
I found that the price range of this product is around €5.90 € 7.40 abroad, from some review websites. In India, Urban touch and Healthkart sells this product for around 230-240 bucks, and lesser, if some sale is going on. I have found Deborah Milano products featuring in Fashion and You sales as well.
What the Company Website Claims:
“An incredibly soft-textured pencil that highlights the outline of the eyes with precision, for flawless long-lasting color. Dermatologist tested.”
It is available in 8 shades, but I found only a maximum of 4 shades [in Urban touch].
Hydrogenated coco-glycerides, polyethylene, cera microcrystallina, hydrogenated tallow acid, dimyristyl tartrate, tri-c12-13 alkyl citrate, polyglyceryl-2 oleate, sorbic acid, ethylparaben, bht, ci 77499, ci 77510.
Hydrogenated coco-glycerides are Fatty particles with lightly emulsifying properties, which improve product consistency, and bind moisture on skin surface. Polyethylene can be used to dilute other solids, or to increase the thickness of the lipid (oil) portion of cosmetics and personal care products.
I was intrigued by the terms cera microcrystalline which is MICROCRYSTALLINE WAX derived from petroleum used to lessen the brittleness of stick products and add strength and stability to lipsticks.
Hydrogenated tallow acid caused me some concerns as it was mentioned that it might have been derived from animals. Dimyristyl tartrate, polyglyceryl-2 oleate and TRI-C12-13 ALKYL CITRATE are Skin-Conditioning Agent used as an Emollient. Sorbic Acid and Potassium Sorbate kill microorganisms, or prevent or retard their growth and reproduction, and thus protect cosmetics and personal care products from spoilage. BHT acts as an antioxidant by preventing or slowing the deterioration of cosmetics and personal care products caused by chemical reactions with oxygen. CI 77499 is an inorganic colorant primarily composed of iron oxides (ferrous-ferric oxide). CI 77510 is Ferric ferrocyanide is an iron-based inorganic colorant also known as Prussian blue; one of the first synthetic pigments. Both the colorants are known human respiratory toxicant. It also contains parabens, so I guess this is not a daily use-instead-of-kajal product.
Shelf Life: 2 years.
My Experience with Deborah Milano 24 Ore Eye Pencil Shade 251 Black:
This is a nice soft-tipped eye pencil and I love the jet black matte color it gives. It does not come off very easily with swipes and it can be smudged for a smokey eye effect. It removes very easily with cleansing milk, though I usually use my herbal face-soap to wash it off. It has a decent staying power of 2-3 hours after which it starts fading though it still manages to give a dark-eyed look. I have applied it over my eyelids and along my waterline, and it doesn’t sting.
Pros of Deborah Milano 24 Ore Eye Pencil
- Easy to apply.
- Jet black color [keeps my eyes dark even after a bath].
- Doesn’t sting my eyes.
- Smudges easily for a smokey eye effect.
- Stays for around 2-3 hours without touch-ups [a great thing for my oily oily skin!].
Cons of Deborah Milano 24 Ore Eye Pencil
- Contains parabens and toxic colorants, but I guess that is a concern for most makeup products!
- Contains ingredients that may be derived from animals, so vegans beware!
- Doesn’t come with a sharpener and this needs sharpening very very often!
- Availability might be an issue – I got this online.
3.5 out of 5 [for having no sharpeners and parabens].
Would I Buy This Again:
this again: Of course, I love blacky black eye pencils and this one is a good purchase as the price is decent and the effect is good, so until I come across a completely non-toxic jet black eye pencil, this is a sure-buy. I am also planning to try other colors in this range, that I found in Urban Touch.
