Garnier Fructis Silky Straight 24/7 Strengthening Conditioner
The Garnier Fructis Silky Straight Range was released more than a month ago and this is my second review of the range. I have already reviewed the shampoo here on IMBB. The product being reviewed here is the Garnier Fructis Silky Straight 24/7 Strengthening Conditioner.
The Silky Straight Range promises to transform rough, unmanageable hair to silky smooth hair with active fruit concentrate in their taming system. I wanted to try this along with the serum as well, but couldn’t find it. I might eventually buy it online. A strange fact is that there is no information about this product on the Garnier India website.
Name of the Product:
Garnier Fructis Silky Straight 24/7 Strengthening Conditioner.
Rs. 130 for 180 gm.
- Transforms rough, unmanageable hair into silky smooth hair.
- Long lasting effect.
- Taming system nourishes hair to make it soft, smooth, frizz free and shiny.
- Provides every level of hair with fortifying actives that help strengthen the hair from within and improves shine on the outside.
- 5 times stronger hair.
My Take on Garnier Fructis Silky Straight 24/7 Strengthening Conditioner:
The conditioner comes in a standard Garnier Fructis Green opaque bottle with a bottom opening. There is a sticker on the front of the bottle showing Ms. Jungli’s before and after photos.
On the reverse side of the bottle, the 3-step taming system is explained that is expected to take care of all your rough and frizzy hair woes. It also elaborates on what the ‘Active Fruit Concentrate’ actually contains and its benefits.
The directions of use are to rinse well after shampooing, apply conditioner along length of hair to tips, leave for 1-2 minutes and rinse thoroughly. They recommend using with Garnier Fructis Silky Straight 24/7 Shampoo.
As per their recommendation and to see if the taming system was truly effective, I used this with the Garnier Fructis Silky Straight Shampoo. I did exactly as they said, only after application, I combed through my hair with a wide-toothed comb to ensure all hair strands were coated. The product has the same kind of fruity, peach-y fragrance as the shampoo and is a bit thinner in consistency as compared to conditioners of other brands. I needed a little more than usual to cover my hair. One point I noticed is that while rinsing out most conditioners, I lose quite a bit of hair, but that did not happen with this conditioner. This feature alone wins a lot of points from me!!
After air drying, I found my hair very easy to brush with hardly any tangles at all!! It was a lot smoother and a little shinier as well. As for the “set it straight’ claims, I don’t believe a shampoo or conditioner can actually straighten hair, so I didn’t expect much on that front. It also didn’t leave behind much of a fragrance.
The second day too, my hair was quite soft to touch and easy to brush through, though it wasn’t as smooth as the first day. Still, the frizz and fly-aways did appear to behave themselves. I can’t be too sure about making my hair 5 times stronger with this conditioner, though perhaps prolonged use over a period of months could give some more insight into that.
This product works quite well with the shampoo in the same range. I guess the serum would complete the process and give a final, finished touch to my hair. Can’t wait to try it out!!
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Niacinamide, Sugarcane Extract, Dodecene, Trideceth-6, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride, Poloxamer 407, Limonene, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Linalool, Benzyl Salicylate, Amodimethicone, Isopropyl Alcohol, Apple Fruit Extract, Pyridoxine HCI, Cetyl Esters, MethylParaben, Citric Acid, Citronellol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Lemon Peel Extract, Lauryl PEG/ PPG-18/18 Methicone, Hexyl Cinnamal, Fragrance (C32610/2)
Pros of Garnier Fructis Silky Straight 24/7 Strengthening Conditioner:
- Easily available.
- Reasonably priced.
- Long shelf life.
- Effect lasts for at least two days.
- Hair is shinier and smoother.
- Hair is very easy to brush; there were hardly any tangles even on the second day.
- Frizz and fly-aways are controlled a little.
- Very less hair loss during conditioning and rinsing.
Cons of Garnier Fructis Silky Straight 24/7 Strengthening Conditioner:
- Extreme fruity smell.
- Contains parabens.
- Need a little more product than other brands.
- Slight decrease in effect from the second day onwards.
- Not sure about the strengthening effect (as visible from short term use).
This is a buy that I am quite happy with, but my verdict is based on the performance of this conditioner as compared to conditioners of other brands, and not according to the product claim. The claims of setting hair straight and making it 5 times stronger seem too far fetched. The presence of parabens is a major minus point.
Would I Buy Garnier Fructis Silky Straight 24/7 Strengthening Conditioner Again?
Certainly!! On the lookout for the serum too!!

sounds good but garnier hair care range never suited me :struggle:
That was true for me too, but this is the first product that has given me positive results!!
Even I am sceptical about it making the hair silky straight! But if it is a good product overall, it must be all right 😉
Yeah, I wish they hadn’t made such impossible claims 🙂
I used to use garnier a long back ago but it gave me hair fall so left it.
I know what you mean, the fructis shampoos were too harsh on my hair before this 🙁
i have really frizzy kind of curly hair and though this range worked good firstly on my hair but later on there was product build-up and my hair was becoming greasy.
have stopped using it and the shampoo as well. :smug:
and it has zero straightening effect :scream: though i didn’t expect that either :nono:
Oh dear, I haven’t reached that stage yet. I usually alternate between two shampoos, don’t know when my hair is gonna turn greasy :tremble:
Hiii Fabida .. very nice review… :snicker: ..I am using garnier sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner from a very loooonnngg time …. and it really suited me ..and straighten my hair….not like straightening rod though.. but earlier I need to straigten my hair with rod but after using sleek and shine… I dont need it… :happydance: :happydance:
Everyone has different texture though..but I”ll try this definately… :jiggy1: :jiggy1:
Ooh, haven’t given that one a try due to my previous fear of fructis shampoos, but if its effective I might go for it 🙂
This seems nice. 🙂 I have the silky straight serum and I’m lovin it! I’ll try this one soon. Maybe it’ll work for me. 😀
Superb review!
You found the serum!!! Lucky you, I was only able to find one called ‘Long and Straight’ or something like that 🙂
Hi .. This product is actually nice… It suited me as well.. It helps to reduce hair fall & makes my hair silky.. :balle:
