Moisturizer For Oily Skin From High-End Brands: Ask IMBB

Jomol asks:

I am urgently in need of a good moisturizer from the higher end brands that are available in India. Those gel type moisturizers are very sticky and I do not feel like putting them on. I want a good moisturizer that wouldn’t grease up my face, rather it should get quickly absorbed into the skin without leaving any dry patches. Most of the moisturizers are giving me break outs, do you have any suggestions for good ones?

    1. I used the TBS Tea Tree cream but I hated it πŸ™ its terrible. There is some cool feeling when I apply it, but it feels very sticky. Time to try seaweed lotion πŸ™‚ Thanks Pallavi πŸ™‚

  1. You could try Forest Essentials , I dont recall the exact product name, but they do have something for oily skin and its pretty pretty good.

    1. Oh Naina….yes, some Madurai jasmine thing na…I had a look…..I want that…..I checked it online, its out of stock right now πŸ™

      1. hmmmm.. I cant recall the name somehow!! but it was fantastic when I tried it at the store.
I am very miffed with FE as a brand, they have reduced the quantity of ubtans from 100 gm to 50 gm and kept the jar size same so people don’t figure out . This is in addition to the continuos hike the prices.
I loove the brand , the products even more and understand its pure luxury but didn’t expext this from them.

        1. Oh….did they do that….but why?????? oh no…..you know I am totally getting that thing from FE, I want to feel the moisture πŸ™‚

  2. What about loreal youth code day lotion spf 30?? i guess its available in india and i feel it quite gud for oily skin!

            1. Parita – i am currently trying the Vichy gel cleanser on your recommendation and so far so good and i do like the sqeaky clean feeling I get after using it. I would like to give it a few more days and if I dont see any breakouts will jump with joy and ofcourse thank you with all my heart :). I am also planning to give their day moisturizer a try anf if that works would have found my perfect skincare routine. I am not using any toner cos i dont think thats really required. I can then say goodbye to Olay, Clinique and all the million other chotu motu brands I have tried. πŸ™‚

              1. oh btw do check out Avene thermal spring water too..its fab for dry patches and roughness..i use it almost everyday..must have for after threading and waxing..the best soothing water ever and it hydrates well too πŸ™‚ also do try and have atleast 2 to 3 litres of water everyday..dry patches may come sometimes due to dehydrated skin too

                1. Yes Parita, you are right, I should probably increase my water intake. I have the La Roche thermal spring water….I love that mist too though its not helping that much with the dryness πŸ™

        1. Hi Parita…I am presently using Vichy Normaderm night cream after reading your recommendations and I found it absolutely amazing. Can you pls suggest which Normaderm day cream should I use…there are two-three options available on Medplusbeauty. Thanks.

  3. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser works well for my combination/oily-but-somewhat-dry-skin-in-winters πŸ™‚ never broke me out

  4. Hey I have oily skin..doc. Adviced me to use sebamed clear face care gel….

    1. Thank you Vini…will look for that……I have heard Elizabeth Arden has really good skin care products, a lot of the celebrities use them too πŸ™‚

  6. Jomol, try cetaphil DAMultra hydrating lotion..my dermatologist suggested it for me..It had kept my skin hydrated..me too oily skin, but it wasn’t greasy at all..

  7. Can u please give the full name of Vichy’s Normaderm range moisturizer parita. there are a lot of options available online from this range so am confused !!!!

  8. I have combination-oily skin. Based on my experience, I recommend the following moisturisers. The best thing about these is that they did not break me out. Hope they fare well for you too.
    1. Avene Rebalancing soothing emulsion (This is perfect for daytime use on normal days – winter or summer)
    2. Avene Clean-Ac hydrating cream (When I use any creams for Acne that dry out my skin, I use this)
    3. Sebamed moisturising cream (For very dry areas, during the night as its a bit heavy)

  9. Joms, Me suggest Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser or FE one. Both are good. I prefer FE one. nw my complete skin care is FE.(from cleanser to night cream)..the whole lot..

  10. neutrogina moisturizer for combination to oily skin…..i know its not high end….but its amazing amazing jomol ji….try it…

  11. Hi Jomol, howdy? πŸ™‚ As you know, i too have oily skin, which turns into combination from mid October till March ! Throughout summer i was using the Vichy Normaderm Anti Imperfection, the day and the night version, and it was very good. In September/October, I was using Clinique D.D. Moisturising Gel, it absorbs very well and leaves my skin smooth and oil-free. Now that cool weather is here, am myself searching for some new moisturiser – I think am going to use the L’oreal Youth Code day/night (just a small pea-sized amount for the day – don’t want breakouts!). Let me know what you finally settle for as a moisturiser…will follow you !! πŸ™‚

    1. Sabrina – that seems to be my kinda thing too. I am slowly switching to Vichy (using the cleansing gel) and also contemplating between the Clinique DD moisturizer and the Youth Code. I have gotten quite a few pimples of late and I am wondering why so. I used to use Olay for the longest time and didnt have any issues but I just want to use Vichy or Clinique and i so desperately want it to work for me..:(
