Trendy Ways to Wear Culottes

If all this while, you were waiting for fashion and comfort to go hand in hand, it is time you did a jig. Gone are the days when you would tolerate all discomfort to look stylish and fashionable. Well, here come to your rescue, the culotte pants! I can totally understand when you say the awkward length of these pant-skirt hybrids is scary. They are not shorts, they are not pants either. They are just something in between. But, it is this strange and challenging length of culottes, that lend them a multitude of styling options. No wonder they are the ‘It’ pants this season.

Culottes are really versatile. You can wear them on a brunch, to work, for a day out with your girls and even on a party night (Yes, you heard me right). Here are a few trendy ways to style your culottes, before you go big on this trend.

Experiment with The Length:
If you feel that the typical culotte length is unflattering or you are simply in the mood to do some skin show, just opt for the short culottes. This goes especially well for petite women.

The about-knee-length culottes are just appropriate for you, if you are not ready to wear the short culottes and do not want to sport the mid-calf length either.

However the typical culotte pants cut off at mid calf. It looks like a midi skirt… flattering the waist and accentuating the ankles.

Play with Prints or Go Monochrome
A little experimenting with your style can earn you big pay-offs. Try mixing and matching prints or go color block. But remember to team colors that accentuate each other well. Beginners, mix light colors with darker shades.

To play safe, just go monochrome. Just add a pop of color with the accessories.

Crop Top or Button Down Shirt:
Crop tops can give any ensemble a chic look. Believe me, when I say, there is a crop top for everyone. You do not need to be skinny to rock this trend. Just a high waist culotte pant worn with a crop top and you are ready to turn heads. If your culottes are not high waist you can even sport a button down shirt. Tug it in please!

Layer up:
Layering is a favourite idea among the fashion savvy ones these days. To keep it minimal, add a blazer or a jacket to your culotte outfit and see the compliments pouring in.

Shoe Your Mood:
“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world”, who would not agree with Marilyn Monroe on this! For dressy occasions, try some ‘barely-there’ heels, court shoes, chunky heels or flirty strappy sandals. To go casual and androgynous, put on your sneakers or espadrilles.

Not So Usual:
You can always ditch the very conventional outfits and try the unusual ones. Ever thought of trying the culotte dungarees or the culotte jumpsuit?

Depending on your mood, wear a crop top or jewelled neck-line top with your culottes. Accentuate with statement jewellery and high heeled sandals and you are good to go. For a more casual and tom-boyish look, wear your culottes with a button down shirt or basic tank top along with sneakers and a back pack.

Party Look:
Wear a tube top or a strappy top along with some statement jewellery and metallic pumps. Culottes can be worn to parties. Told you!
