L’Oreal Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo

L’Oreal Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo

Short Intro:

With the advent of the rainy season, my wavy hair started getting all frizzy and uncontrollable, and I was on the look-out for some product which could make my hair look a little less like the bird’s nest it usually was. While browsing the supermarket, I came across the L’Oreal Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo, and it looked like the answer to my troubles. It was meant to be used on unmanageable dry hair, which was exactly what I had.

Loreal Intense Smooth Shampoo

Ingredients:

The product contains:
Aqua.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate.
Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate Glycol Distearate.
Sodium Methylparaben.
Hydrolysed Silk.
Argania Spinosa Oil.
Citric Acid.
Hexylene Glycol and some more ingredients, but the lettering was too minute for me to continue reading and typing it in here. In fact, the ingredient list is quite intimidating.

Argan Oil and Silk Protein are supposedly the ground-breaking elements of this shampoo, which will make your hair like silk.

Product Claims:

The product claims the following:

1. Transforms unruly hair to smooth manageable hair.
2. Deep nourishment – the creme formula nourishes and smoothes your hair from root to tip.
3. 48H protection – formula shields your hair from the effect of humid or dry weather, like unruly hair, for 48 hours.
4. Texture and Shine of your hair is renewed.

What I Thought about L’Oreal Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo:

The shampoo is a light golden colour with a very delicious scent. It comes in a 200 ml bottle (I couldn’t find a smaller bottle on the supermarket shelves).

Smoothing action:  It does nothing like it claims and this was the prime purpose for which I had purchased this shampoo. I generally wash and shampoo my hair in the evenings, so that all the dirt could also be removed. After shampooing with the L’Oreal Smooth Intense shampoo, I also used a conditioner (which is food for another review). Once my hair had dried that evening, it looked a little bit more manageable than usual. However, the very next morning, my hair felt rougher than before I had used the shampoo.

Cleansing action:  As a matter of fact, the product does not even cleanse my hair properly. After shampooing my hair, it felt like all the dust and dirt was still stuck to my hair.

I had not expected such a poor product from a world-class cosmetics giant like L’Oreal.

Pros of L’Oreal Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo

It has a lovely scent, not too overpowering. Sorry, but I can’t think of a single other good thing to say about this product.

Cons of L’Oreal Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo

  • Product does nothing like it claims – no smoothening of hair is visible.
  • Product does not even properly cleanse the hair.

Cost:

I bought a 200 ml bottle for Rs 130. Pretty expensive considering the other shampoos in the market. It has a shelf life of 36 months from the date of manufacture.

I am trying my best to finish off the bottle, so that I can buy a nice new one, but it doesn’t seem to be getting over no matter how much I use it up 🙁

Would I Buy It Again?

Never again.

Rating:

I would rate this shampoo a 1.5 out of 5.

  1. ya very disappointing for Loreal..they are quite known for thier hair products too..1.5/5 is a poor score..thanks for the review..on the brighter side, their hair masque and the conditioners are pretty good..

  2. I have dry and frizzy hair and I had tried it too..it did not help at all!!! I think only Loreal professional range is good, the ones available in the supermarket dont work at all!!!

  3. Hi i tried this b4 and using it nw… it works pretty well like dove or matrix ones… conditioner is the best part.. im loving the serum too but it doesnt help tame the frizz lik livon but tho it give ultra shine tht NOTHING does n keeps hair feather light yet doesnt make it wavy… conditioner is thicker than dove ones and other loreal color protecting conditioners.. it really soaks n moisturizes my dry damaged ends.

  4. I started using this a month back, and its working great for me so far!
Using the shampoo+conditioner+serum from this range. No complaints yet. Sorry it didnt work for you

  5. it worked really good on mine……i always use the trio…works best…totally love this shampoo…my hg shampoo

  6. The conditioner and serum is good from this range – it worked for my hair pretty well. I used to leave in the conditioner sometimes for half – an hour 😀 and it made my hair ulta silky. The conditioner didnt have silicones either – atleast i couldnt spot any in the ingredients list.

  7. I bought this for one reason only – no silicones! 🙂 And am quite happy with this and the conditioner. I have extremely dry hair which gets drier in the days after I wash my hair. People normally wash their hair coz it gets greasy, while I wash mine coz it gets too dry! 😐 The only reason I wash my hair frequently is to avoid this extreme dryness. Co-washing doesn’t suit me and makes my hair very limp and greasy. But this shampoo and conditioner combo is good. Doesn’t dry out my hair and makes it feel really nice. I dont need to wash my hair as frequently if I use this one.
