Toni and Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Conditioner

Toni and Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Conditioner

Hi Sweeties!

The other day I was randomly searching for something to get my frizzy hair under control, especially when the temperature here in Delhi is going to soar all the more, leaving my hair look straw like!!

Toni and Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Conditioner

I happened to discover this bottle of conditioner over a shopping site and I ordered a small quantity of it to give it a try. I also ordered a shampoo from the same family as judging a conditioner in isolation is just not right.

So, here is my review!

Product Description:

“Achieve salon status style with the right products and tools from Toni and Guy.” This detangling conditioner re-hydrates your hair to tame frizz for smoother curls. It will give your curly or style curled hair a glossier sheen.

Directions For Use:

After washing hair with Toni and Guy frizz smoothening curl shampoo, smooth on wet hair. Comb through. Leave for 2 minutes. Rinse.

Ingredients:

Ingredients

Aqua, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Stearamidopropyl dimethylamine, cetrimonium chloride, phenoxyethanol, vp/va copolymer, glycerine, giyceryl stearate, amodimethicone, polyquatermium-11, citric acid, behentrimonium chloride, parfum, dipropylene glycol, isopropyl alcohol, butyl phenyl methylpropional, hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexenecarboxaldehyde, trideceth-10, hydroxycitronellal.

My Experience with Toni and Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Conditioner:

The conditioner is in a tiny little bottle with hot pink color. It does not really have a diffuser or opening, there is a just a cap that is lid on. It really can happen that you end up creating vacuum to get the conditioner out once the quantity in it is low. The fragrance of the conditioner is really nice! Keeps lingering on and diffuses around when the hair waves in the air, which is so nice.  The texture of the conditioner is creamy and white in color, and glides easily. If rinsed intelligently, the conditioner does not leave residue, which is good. But rinsing any conditioner completely is really important, otherwise it leaves kinks in your hair, and in the long run shall leave to hair thinning.

However, this is my weird observation with this conditioner, it seems it is mandatory to comb through your hair once you have applied the conditioner to detangle it. If you would skip it, it might happen that your hair tangles more once you rinse it completely.

I can feel the softness in hair once I rinse it off as my hair flows freely with water 😉 However, when the hair actually gets dried, it might happen that on the first day of your wash, your hair is a little more fluffy. This gets settled on the second day. My hair is cut in layers, so it happens with me. My advice to all my sweeties here is not to ever get layers shorter than the nape of the neck. They will get frizzier. Longer layers on wavy hair is good.

I have never tried using this conditioner in isolation, so I cannot really comment on the “can do all” properties. I have always pre-used it with the Tony and Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Shampoo and the Dove Over Night Treatment Serum.
Now again, one thing that most of us would not like to believe is the Silicon Inclusion Factor, but unfortunately, it has such stuff, which might give you shiny results now, but in the long run it is adverse for your hair.

Price:

Rs. 225 for 75 ml.

Pros of Toni and Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Conditioner:

  • Petite bottle.
  • Really good fragrance.
  • Makes hair softer.
  • Texturizes waves.
  • Does not leave residue, if washed thoroughly.

Cons of Toni and Guy Frizz Smoothing Curl Conditioner:

  • Expensive.
  • Mandatory to comb through hair when conditioner is applied to detangle it.
  • Not sure about “do all alone” properties, has to be used with a serum.
  • Makes hair fluffier on the first day of hair wash.
  • Contains silicones.

IMBB Rating:

3/5.

  1. Lovely review. 🙂

But, I used this shampoo & conditioner for a while, for 2 months or so, (I have curly hair. And I LOVE my curls!) and I frikkin LOST my curls! They became so flat and idk, uncurly. I had to do three vinegar rinses to rid my hair of all that silicon build up. It weighed my hair down awfully. 🙁 This range is good only for once in a while uses. :/

  2. Haha!
Yes, once a while it is good. I guess water quality also plays an important role. We should not always depend on the products only. Putting Lemon juice while we bathe should work.

  3. too have curly hair , thanks for review was thinking on tony stuff but will skip this one out now … have u tried loreal loreal liss ultime serum …yeah it for straight hair but somehow it adds shine and reduces frizz/flyways in my case …is not greasy .. volume is controlled but it not let down…which i like about it… worth a try 🙂
