Tips and Toes Eye Pencil in Jade Green
Hi IMBB World,
I was on a buy-as-many-colors-for-eyes craze sometime back in June-July this year and was just starting to enjoy buying various colors, when some of my friends to whom I accidentally mentioned this, gifted me a set of eye pencils in all possible shades that I had to stop checking for them (that’s okay, I hatched on to the “love lipstick” after that, so the shopaholic in me remains the same!!).
So, I was firm on not buying any more eye colors when I went to this cute little boutique near my home and then I saw the SA wearing this lovely greenish shade and I had to buy this one as she said she uses this every day. I didn’t get a chance to swipe this as they didn’t carry any testers, but still I got this, I guess partly because of nostalgia – Tips and Toes was a familiar name when I was growing up. I was also curious when I saw that this was manufactured by Schwan Stabilo who is also the manufacturer for many high-end brands and was wondering if the brand I knew as a manufacturer of cheap nail polishes has grown larger!
The eye pencil came in a plastic covering and the color was marked at the edge.
Around 150 INR.
No idea, not mentioned anywhere on the pencil or on their website.
Aqua Blue, Jade Green, Mocha Brown and Ebony Black.
This is what is mentioned on the website about the product.
- Sleek, trendy wooden pencil to outline your eyes.
- Smudge-free formula defines eyes perfectly.
- Easy to sharpen and use.
- Available in 5 exciting shades.
I found it surprising that they mentioned this is available in 5 shades, but I couldn’t find any mention of the 5th shade anywhere.
My Experience with Tips and Toes Eye Pencil in Jade Green:
I liked the sleek and decent-looking packaging though I do wish they had added a sharpener with this, but, I guess for 150 rupees, they had to save somewhere! I didn’t have many hopes on this eye pencil as I got this just for the color Jade Green. However, I love the color, it’s a deep fresh green that resembles a leaf color. It immediately brightens the eye and the shimmers are not at all over the top, in fact, almost difficult to find. It glides very well over my eyes, and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all.
The SA mentioned that I should reapply this every 4-5 hours, so I guess for her the staying power is decent, but I found that this fades in intensity after around 3 hours, maybe because of my oily skin. I don’t think this is a smudge-free formula as it is kind of creamy and when I tried to smudge after 10 minutes of application, it immediately smudged, but then, it didn’t create any raccoon-eye effect at all, so I guess this is somewhere in between.
(The swatch is taken after double swipe – pardon the extremely tanned and non-moisturized skin)
Now, the downside for me is the lack of ingredients. These days, I am very sensitive to what I wear over my eyes for more than an hour, and definitely not daily, but as this is not an office wear color, it is okay so far. Also, quite a lot of product is wasted when I try to sharpen it, but I guess that is inevitable for this kind of pencil eye products.
Pros of Tips and Toes Eye Pencil in Jade Green:
- Creamy lip pencil in a nice jade shade for dramatic eye looks.
- Did not cause any irritation of the eyes.
- Cheap price for the quantity.
- Lasts for around 3 hours.
- Doesn’t spread much even though it smudges easily after 10 minutes.
Cons of Tips and Toes Eye Pencil in Jade Green:
- No ingredient list.
- Nonavailability, I have not seen this in many stores or in any of the online stores.
- A lot of product is wasted due to the need for sharpening.
4 out of 5 (0.5 for missing ingredient list and 0.5 for nonavailability and wastage during sharpening).
Will I Buy Tips and Toes Eye Pencil in Jade Green Again:
Nope, I do like the color and I do feel that for the quantity and price, the quality is very good, but these days, I am into safe eye makeup and moving to paraben-free products for eyes as much as possible, so I am planning to stay clear of products without any ingredient list!
