Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Wash – Brightening Berry

By Krishti

I have been a Clean and Clear face wash loyalist for years. Sometimes, I do try others when I am bored, but any problem with skin irritation and I always come running back to get my bottle of Clean and Clear. I mean look at it’s advantages, its  cheap, you need just 2 drops to work up a good lather, it doesn’t leave a residue on your face, gives a squeaky clean feeling and it’s not over drying.

Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Brightening Berry

Recently, I noticed the new avatars of Clean and Clear face washes. I mean that clear face wash in that pale brown-orange colored bottle with blue cap is still there, but the shape has changed somewhat and the words “oil free, wont clog pores” is written on the top. I thought of buying it to see if it’s something new or if it is the old wine in a new bottle. I wasn’t sure really because it looked the same and I already had a lot of face wash left in my old bottle of Clean and Clear when suddenly I noticed the other colorful bottles sitting innocently besides them.

Yes! Clean and Clear have launched 3 new variants. They come in bright yellow, light green and bright rose pink colours.  The yellow one has lemon extracts to re-energise tired looking skin, green one has got green apple extracts to clean oily skin and the pink one has berry extracts to brighten dull-looking skin.

I honestly thought I’d buy all of them, but constrained myself to buying the berry one. Here’s how it looks.

Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Brightening Berry

It’s basically a pale pink bottle with a pale rose pink liquid with round baby pink beads in it. The lemon and apple ones have beads too. Orange colour beads in lemon and light green beads in apple variant.  Clean and Clear claims these are “Bursting Beads” which gives you a “burst” of morning energy!

Product Description:

Brighten your dull-looking skin with this gentle face wash which has “bursting beads” that burst with energy and brightening berry extract. Gives you a burst of morning energy anytime of the day. The rich foam thoroughly removes oil and dirt. It has special ingredients that help prevent common skin problems without over drying. Leaves skin feeling clean, clear and beautiful everyday.

Now, what I find most disappointing is that there’s no ingredient list mentioned. My old bottle has at least the key ingredients mentioned but this has nothing!!! Also, the website is completely clueless. They don’t even mention there’s a new range of face washes!!I checked the other website (the one meant for US), they have a range of morning burst face washes too. One of them is already reviewed here, but they plainly look different.

Anyway, I found this one more runny than the original one, I tilted the bottle slightly and a lot of face wash fell into my hands.  It lathers pretty well.

Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Wash Brightening Berry

It has a faint raspberry like smell which is pretty strong when you are washing your face, but almost goes away afterwards. The beads though rounded felt a little too harsh as it exfoliated my skin and I think it leaves a little residue on my skin, no squeaky clean feeling.

Moving on to pros and cons:

Pros of Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Wash – Brightening Berry:

  • It is a bit runny. Since the bottle and cap is quite sturdy, it will not spill.
  • It does brighten up your face a little.
  • Doesn’t over dry, but keeps my combination-oily skin oil free for 2-3 hours.
  • It is really cheap (Rs. 50 for 50 ml).
  • You won’t need a lot of face wash to lather up, so one bottle will last long.

Cons of Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Wash – Brightening Berry:

  • I didn’t really like the raspberry smell, but that’s just me maybe. It doesn’t linger though, so won’t be much of a problem.
  • I felt it left a very thin film on my face. No squeaky clean feeling.
  • No ingredient list mentioned.

Will I Repurchase Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Wash – Brightening Berry?

Frankly, I prefer the original one over this, but you can surely give this a try. I will try out the other variants though. Hope they smell better to me!

This is so damn cheap…the other day when I went to a store where they sell imported stuff from Gulf I spotted this one & I asked the seller its cost, he told me 240INR for a small bottle of this. Good thing its available now here.
