23 Best Foundations for Indian Bridal Makeup

by Rati on July 19, 2012 · 54 comments

I have never read so many foundation reviews in a single day. 😛 Well! This is the list of some of the best foundations that have proved their worth by not only staying on for long hours but also making one look good in photos. These foundations make great picks for bridal makeup or party makeup. I have put a small summary underneath each foundation name. You may click on the titles to read the full reviews 🙂

1. Bourjois Mineral Matte Foundation

bourjois mineral matte foundation - Indian Bridal

Summary : It’s a long wear makeup. I put it on my face in the morning and it’s still the same in the evening. It survives hot and humid climate. If you sweat a lot during summers, this one is perfect for you. One of the best foundations available for oily skin. In summer, all skin types will love it.

2. MAC Matchmaster Foundation

MAC Matchmaster Foundation

Summary : It is a water based foundation so would work on all skin types. Those with oily skin types should definitely give this a shot. The coverage I’d say is medium to buildable. You can build it up to a very good coverage and it is able to cover a lot of blemishes. It has SPF 15. It photographs pretty well.

3. L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lasting Perfecting Foundation

L'oreal infalliable foundation

Summary : About the coverage it gives, I would say it is slightly more than medium coverage, but I won’t consider it a full coverage foundation. It covers my light spots and blemishes completely, but the darker spots still need light concealing. I prefer this foundation for my party makeups only as the coverage is a little heavier. The foundation comes with spf 15 and has mild to light floral pleasant fragrance. I like the fact that it looks good in photographs.

4. Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25

Lakme Absolute Foundation

Summary : The 16-hour stay , well, it definitely stays on the skin for a long time, say 6-7 hours without needing touch-ups, well, the rest of those 9-10 hours, you might have to touch up with some compact, that’s all. Medium-to-full coverage, buildable, does not cake, super blendable (imagine L’oreal true match without the oiliness), not drying on the skin.

5. Ben Nye Creme Foundation

Ben Nye Creme Foundation Review

Summary : The foundation has creamy, soft texture, but is slightly thick. I dot it all over the face and blend it with a moist sponge. I have noticed with this, it gets a little tough to blend with a foundation brush, but with a sponge, it blends easily. The coverage it provides is great and I would definitely consider it a full-coverage foundation. I need very little concealing when I am wearing this, may be just some concealing under the eyes. The staying power is good and with a primer, it stays fresh for good 5-6 hours.

6. Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation

lancome teint miracle foundation

7. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Radiant Firming Foundation

Maybelline instant age rewind foundation review

Summary The finish looks pleasantly dewy and natural. Has decent lasting power. Only seems to melt off by the end of the day in super hot weather, and then I’m still able to see a lot of product on my cotton pad when I take this off with makeup remover.Has SPF 18.I wouldn’t suggest it though to those with oily skin as this might make you even oilier.

8. Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup

Summary : Full coverage, I mean REALLY full coverage (but does not look mask like or like you are wearing lots of makeup). Anyone who is insecure about dark circles, spots, scars, pigmentation problems, etc, this foundation is a wonderful product for you. Works as a concealer and foundation, so no need to bother with an extra concealer. Long lasting, water and sweat resistant (wanted such a thing so much).

9. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Summary : Gives semi matte finish with subtle glow. Great for Normal to combination skin. It has never broken me out. Decent lasting power. Stays fresh for up to 6 hours. I love its Silky texture.

10. L’oreal Matte Morphose Foundation

loreal matte morphose foundation

This really lasts, around 6-7 hours in Mumbai ki garmi. At the end of the day, the look is as fresh I had worn in morning. On an outing on the weekend, it lasted for around 10 hours with one touch up after 6 hours.

11. Revlon Photoready Liquid Foundation

Revlon photoready foundation

Summary Minor concealing and the medium to full coverage give an overall great effect on the face. Lasts easily for 5 hours or so and with a makeup base, can last much longer. Water resistant. Does not make the face oily even after hours of application. It will look great for party/function wear, for sure.

12. Maxfactor Color Adapt Foundation :
maxfactor colour adapt foundation

Gives a medium coverage despite of being so light in texture and feel, without any heavy feeling on face.Perfectly cover my blemishes on my chin area and pimple scars around mouth very effectively and feels as if nothing is applied on the face.It has a good staying power for about 6 hours without any fading.

13. Shiseido The Makeup Dual Balancing Foundation

Summary : A long-lasting, oil-free liquid foundation that responds to skin’s specific needs. Increases moisture in dry areas and minimizes shine for a semi-matte finish and medium coverage.

14. MAC Studio Fix Fluid

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

Summary : Provides a nice matte finish which is best suited for my combination-oily skin.Doesn’t look cakey at all.It looks quite natural. Even without a primer it stayed on for around 6 hours. It didn’t oxidize at all.

15. MAC Prolongwear Foundation

MAC Prolongwear foundation

Summary : It claims a 15 hour wear but I have worn it for 12 hours straight and honestly, I am impressed. Even after 12 hours my foundation looked fresh, and my blush & highlighter were still with barely any fading. Infact i feel the finish of the foundation actually gets enhanced as the hours pass by.

16. MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

MAC Studio Sculpt FOundation

It’s highly pigmented so less is more. Pea size covers full face. Hides blemishes, under-eye circles in seconds. I don’t have those ghastly dark circles so it hides puffiness and any other discoloration effectively. I don’t need a concealer with this product what all I do is re-apply the product wherever I want more coverage. Doesn’t washes away and lasts for 6-8 hours.

17. Make Up For Ever HD Foundation

It is one of the finest formula in foundation I have ever used.It is an oil free foundation so girls with oily skin would love it. However I don’t find it drying for my dry skin as well. Looks fab in photos.

18. Shiseido Makeup Stick Foundation

Shiseido Makeup Stick Foundation

Summary : Its coverage is pretty buildable. If you like high coverage you just need to add on a little more strokes and you’re done! It stays for a long time. I’ve worn it for 8 hrs and it didn’t fade and it didn’t even turn my skin oily or anything.

19. Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Foundation

Bourjois 10 hour sleep effect foundation

Feels oh-so-light on the skin. Awesome and practical for everyday use.The lasting power is also pretty good. Stays for a good 5-6 hours and absolutely no greasy feel at all.

20. Revlon new Complexion foundation

Revlon New Complexion Foundation

Summary : It has everything I look in for an amazing foundation. Like many people here, I was too in search of the “perfect foundation” for me and when I tried this product on, my search ended. I just can’t stop loving this foundation!

21. Maxfactor Miracle Touch Foundation

Maxfactor miracle touch foundation review

Summary It gives a decent coverage and is buildable. The coverage is even better and spreads well when applied with a damp sponge or a foundation brush. I use the sponge that came along with the foundation. Gives a soft glow. I have a combination skin (ie., Oily T-Zone and dry sides)and it does a good work in terms of oil control. I would say that this foundation has a good amount of staying power.

22. Maxfactor Age Renew Foundation

Maxfactor Age renew Foundation

Summary : Although it is a full coverage foundation, it feels light on skin.
This is the first foundation I have come across that can make your skin look perfect and flawless. I am not a fan of full coverage foundations but this one has completely taken my heart away.

23. Revlon Colorstay Foundation

Revlon Colorstay foundation

Summary: The coverage is very good. I don’t like heavy coverage. I use a tiny amount and it is just about perfect for me. But you can definitely build layers to get a heavier coverage. The foundation stays on for a good 6-7 hours on the skin.

Arja July 19, 2012 at 8:47 pm

@Aruna didi : The Lakme one`s a regular foundation.Works on fairly flawless skin – but isnt the best if you want thick coverage, in that case the other options are better (very well chosen though) – even the kryolan paint stick. ^_^

Aru July 20, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Hi Rati,

Just thought of re-reading the post – right BEFORE I am gonna go out to try the testers of all these foundations! 😛 Thanks a TON!

BTW – I read in another one such blog/post on bridal foundation (on makeupandbeauty.com itself) ki Foundations with an SPF give an extra white effect under the photography shoot for a bride…. Is that true?? If yes – the ones you have recommended for the bridal with SPF – are those TRULY good for a bride or good only for a day-to-day wear?

richa sah January 31, 2013 at 7:19 pm

Nupur March 25, 2013 at 6:58 pm

hey Rati, very useful information … what do think about chanel’s Matt Lumiere ?… i really need ur review on this one. thank u:)

Chitra August 19, 2013 at 7:05 pm

Superb Rati. I am taking baby steps in make up all thanks to u and this blog. As a result I bought Lotus tinted moisturiser and aahhhh…. it makes my T zone oily ( combination oily skin). Also as I am a doctor I need to wear an apron ant it leaves spots on my white apron’s collar. Today even my surgical mask had the tint. Felt ridiculous. Help me with a nice foundation for everyday use yaar!!!!!!Plssssss…… Also within a budget range of not more than 1k. Right now I am in a desperation to complete it. Mom is a few shades darker than me and can’t even give this to her.

Ishita July 11, 2014 at 3:09 pm
