I recently began my “serious” eye care regime as the mid-30s have brought in my first fine lines around the eyes and so last month, I picked up a couple of eye creams – the Nurture Eye Serum for night-time use (which I have reviewed already) and the Garnier Ultralift eye cream. Today, I will review the latter one.
What the Company Claims about Garnier UltraLift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream:
To target the appearance of even deep wrinkles and loss of skin firmness around the eye contour, Garnier introduces its new improved Ultralift with Pro-retinol derived from nature. The hydrating formula is proven to offer double effectiveness. The new generation of Pro-retinol used in the cream is released continuously after application to the skin to reach the heart of the wrinkle.
Ultralift has a double action on the epidermis:
– On the surface to smooth the skins surface
– And deeper to reduce the appearance of even deep wrinkles.
Reported Effectiveness:** (Clinical tests on 40 women)
1 hour: uncreasing effectiveness 83% of women agree**
1 month: firming effectiveness 70% of women agree**
1 month: reduces the appearance of creases around the eye**
15 ml for £6.
My Experience with Garnier UltraLift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream:
The cream comes in a small tube and has a mild fragrance. It’s not overly thick but has a slightly thick consistency unlike the Nurture eye serum which just melts onto your skin. The company claims that it has visible effects after 8 days of application and I have been using it for 3 weeks now and I do notice that my eye area has become smoother and firmer. However, let me mention that I also use the Nurture eye serum at night time. Both these in conjunction used for 1 month have definitely improved my eye area.
I take a small amount onto my ring finger and gently rub it in around the eyes in the morning. It stung a little for the first few days, this could be due to the retinol. Body takes a little time to adjust to retinol. I did not have any adverse effects like rashes though. The stinging also subsided soon. However, compared to the serum, this needed a little more time to get absorbed. However, it’s quite handy to carry. For the price that I paid for this eye cream, I am happy with the results. However, I do wish that these creams were more like serums in terms of absorption power. If you are hitting your 30s, you can give this a try before you move onto eye serums.
Pros of Garnier UltraLift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream:
- Dermatologically tested.
- Contains Pro-retinol which has been proven to fight wrinkles.
- Easy to carry along and apply (unlike serums which come in capsule form).
Cons of Garnier UltraLift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream:
- Not absorbed instantly (the Nurture Eye Serum that I reviewed some time back – that one used to get absorbed in seconds like magic).
3.5 out of 5.
Will I Repurchase?
Yes, until I find another one which is better than this. I hope Nurture comes up with eye serum for daytime use too.
